Property Amenities
Hotel Playa Mazatlan has welcomed guests into its relaxing ambience since it opened in 1955 as one of Mazatlán's first resorts. Located in quiet courtyards are 3 heated pools, 1 paired with a 4.5-meter-wide (15-ft) spa tub and bordered by a jungle rock garden with waterfall and koi pond. The hotel's long beach frontage features oversized thatched-roof palapas for shade. A popular draw throughout Mazatlán, the hotel's Fiesta Mexicana folkloric show and buffet dinner, is presented 2-4 times weekly (depending on season) in an air-conditioned theater.
Supervised daily outdoor activities are available for children ages 4-12 during the day. A complimentary fitness center contains cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights. Three reception-area computers provide high-speed Internet access, with the first 3 minutes complimentary.
Room Amenities
Rooms
The Hotel Playa Mazatlan offers guestrooms in 4-5 story, sand-colored buildings with brick accents and red-tile roofs. Balconies or patios provide garden or ocean views. Decor includes terra-cotta tile floors, rough-textured, cream-colored walls and ceilings, brick accents at beds' heads, blue bedspreads, white drapes, dark-wood furniture, and brightly colored Mexican tiles on walls, in bathrooms, and on furniture tops.
Dining
Terraza Playa - Beachfront restaurant/bar with terrace seating under wood-beamed ceiling featuring bougainvillea on roof. Buffet and à la carte breakfasts, à la carte lunch and dinner. Mexican specialties, seafood, chicken, steak. Live music nightly. Fireworks show on Sundays.
Fiesta Mexicana - Family-style buffet and music/dance folkloric show in air-conditioned theater. Weekly shows presented since 1966. Open seasonally.
Los Tejabanes - Casual, poolside spot with umbrella tables and shaded area under rustic brick-and-wood ceiling with blossom-draped roof. Breakfast dishes, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, shrimp, fish, steak, tropical drinks. Open morning to evening (or late night, depending on business).

Recreation
Three heated swimming pools lie within quiet courtyards. The rectangular main pool measures 21 by 11 meters (70 by 35 ft). A jungle rock garden with waterfall and koi pond borders a 17-meter-long (56-ft) freeform pool, which is paired with a 4.5-meter-wide (15-ft) spa tub. The third pool is a 14-meter-long (46-ft) oval adjacent to a tall, tiered fountain.
Furnished with extra-large, thatched-roof palapas, the hotel's beach frontage extends 225 meters (246 yds) along the ocean, which is usually calm because of shelter provided by Deer Island. Sand and palapas extend around the hotel's south end, offering extra room for sunbathing and shaded snoozing as well as for a volleyball net.
Water sports are available at an adjacent beach and include parasailing flights, banana-boat rides, and rentals for personal watercraft, sailboats, and kayaks. Independent operators also offer scuba diving and snorkeling excursions as well as trips to Deer Island and other islands.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

“The Playa Mazatlan”
We always stay at the Playa Mazatalan, it has the most beautiful beaches and it's so clean. Their restaurant is also top notch. It's also located with in walking distance to everything.
“Would return in a minute!”
The grounds and hotel at the Playa Mazatlan were beautiful and extremely clean! The restaurant has excellent food, gracious staff and the best view in Mazatlan of the beach. We loved our oceanfront room, especially the balcony. We were told by our cab drivers and tour guides that the Playa Mazatlan is the preferred hotel by the locals, we know why.
“Great Place”
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was great. If I had to complain about anything I would say that the pillows were uncomfortable. Both my wife and I had wished we brought ours. But this is a preference kind of thing and you may like them, who knows. The bed was the same kind of deal. But the room was super clean, the AC worked excellently, the hotel in general is very nice and the beach is literally right out your door. The hotel restaurant is reasonably priced and the food is decent. There was quality live music and dancing every night though. We very much enjoyed the hotel. Oh, one other complaint is that there wasn't a cooler in the room, but it really wasn't that big of a deal. Oh and we stayed in the standard ocean view.
