Bermuda Honeymoon Vacations

We had a wonderful time at the Pompano! The first thing that stands out are the owners and the staff. The two brothers running it are incredibly engaged and helpful. Their family has owned the resort for 70 years, and it's obvious how much they care about the guests and the property. Every staff member we met was also incredibly pleasant and helpful. It's a smaller resort and you really felt a family atmosphere there. Their main dining room has three multi-story high walls of windows, and sits right at the edge of the vibrant blue ocean. It is a stunning place to dine, and everything we ate from the dinner menu was delicious. Another standout feature of the Pompano is the beach. It's on a sandbar that stretches out far into the ocean, providing a beautiful, sheltered place to swim and enjoy the gentle waves, with no worries of rip tides or steep drop offs. It's a small private beach, but because the resort is small, the beach and the water was never crowded, regardless of when we were there. The rooms at the Pompano are very large with high ceilings, and the beds and pillows were excellent. The air conditioning units were quite effective, but not noisy. The only downside to the Pompano is that there are many stairs. Over 50 to get to the beach from the lobby, and another 50 or more to get up to our building. We loved the extra bit of exercise, but anyone with mobility issues would have a tough time here. We want to go back.

We loved our stay, the staff was friendly, and very helpful. Our room had a spectacular view of the harbor and sunsets. The infinity pool was beautiful, and the Aurora restaurant right on site had amazing seafood and service. We went to the spa also on site, and we loved that too. We will definitely come back again.

The staff at The Hamilton is top notch but the room this time was a real disappointment. This is our third time visiting within 12 months. We have always booked the Fairmont Gold Room. Previously we have had wonderful balcony rooms with beautiful views. This time we were given a room overlooking air conditioning units, the roof of a restaurant and dumpsters. There obviously was no balcony. We asked to change rooms and were told we couldnʼt. We were very disappointed in our stay this time.

The cabana king room was lovely, but generally, I did not think the service lived up to the Rosewood brand. The staff were all very friendly, but perhaps they were spread too thin? Examples: the staff in London never ask for our name (and room) as they learn them immediately. Not true here. More importantly, the service throughout was slow. I had to call twice for more bottles of water (they were too small) and waited 45 minutes to get them replenished in our room despite the room having earlier been made up. I wanted to order at the pool (open at 8am) but there was no one there at 9:50. I was told pool service started at 10am. At 10:15 when staff appeared, I was told it started at 11am. In the Conservatory, we watched 3 staff members at the end of the bar for 15 minutes before we got eye contact, and then it was a few more before someone came to see us. By that time, we could no longer order another drink because our dinner reservation was minutes away. Text messaging helped with some things, but it often took a long time for a response; calling the front desk helped. The food at Sul Verde was just okay (we both had pasta); the service was disorganized (for example, 2 servers asked to take our order). The $135 ribeye at the Brasserie was cooked as ordered but was chewy. My best meal was a smash burger served poolside. With the prices the Rosewood charges, expectations run high. Unfortunately, only the spa seemed worth the premium cost. We won’t return.

The property itself was very nice and we had a beautiful view of the beach. The room was clean for the most part. The location of the hotel was great. It was right between Hamilton and the beaches on the South Shore as well as on a central bus route. The only things that I had issues with was that there was little to do at the hotel besides going to the pool or the beach especially for young kids. Also, the restaurant had weird hours which didn’t fit in well with our schedule. They served breakfast until 10am and they were the closed for lunch until around 12pm- 2:30 and then dinner from 5-9 so if you wanted a snack to eat between those times you were out of luck.
