As I gazed back and saw the outer edge of the small village of Penally, I thought of the predicament which has befallen modern humanity.  We are blessed with the science of health which can feed and nurture our bodies, infrastructures which can whisk us away to countless destinations, and tools of the information age which can fill our minds with the world's treasure of knowledge in a couple of clicks.  

Yet, we are marooned on an island surrounded by a typhoon of demagogues polluting the air with their declarations promoting fear and false hopes, members of the intelligentsia more concerned with selling their new books than solving immediate problems and a parade of advertising slogans dancing to the songs belted out by the marching bands of capitalism.  This constant storm drives a wedge between wisdom and knowledge.

I thought that I could walk into that village and find people who had built walls to protect themselves from this onslaught.  People who spent their days tending their sheep, growing their tomatoes and watching the wind blow.  People who are much wiser than I.  Someday, I want to be just like them.

« The Premier is a short walk from the train station. The room was big enough, comfortable big bed, coffee machine and kettle. We had the breakfast buffet each morning and it was a good way to start the day. « 2 Nuits étape sur un circuit à travers le Pays de Galles. Le bâtiment est très ancien et les aménagements faits au cours des années respectent, a priori, le plus possible la construction d'origine. La salle de bains est spacieuse avec un chauffe-serviette, mais la douche est fixe, à la hauteur du plafond. Ce n'est pas pratique du tout. Dommage qu'on ne puisse pas faire coulisser le pommeau à la hauteur souhaitée. Il y a un parking, ce qui est très pratique. Nous avons pris un diner sur place :...

« The property was beautifully kept inside and out. The room we stayed in had beautiful furniture and the view was of the beach and fort and Cauldy Island and with the sun shining it was amazing. You could walk to the beach and around town within a short distance. There’s steep steps to the beach or further up, a zig-zag path. The breakfast was tasty with plenty of variety too. The owner really wants to make sure that you enjoy your holiday. We definitely will return. Parking at the Pay and...
