Wingate by Wyndham Kanata West Ottawa

"Comfortable and great value. Breakfast offerings exceeded expectations. I booked the superior king room for the deep soaker tub, which was enjoyable (however, a strange design). If I stayed again, I would forgo the superior room to get a room on the top floor, so as to not hear kids running around on the floor above. Not soundproof, light sleepers take note. The common areas were pleasant and I really appreciated the many live plants. (The pothos in the breakfast area needs just a touch of TLC to remove dead leaves from the ceiling). I didn’t use the laundry facilities, but noticed them and thought that is very handy! Lastly there was an odour on the main floor, but only once you get to the carpeted area - probably needs a cleaning. Smelled like socks or faintly of hockey equipment. Hard to pinpoint. Bed was very comfortable! Breakfast staff were top notch. Parking lot well lit. Convenient location off the highway and not far from restaurants, shopping, and fuel. Thanks again to your team!"

"Great location downtown Ottawa, close to War Memorial and Parliament Buildings. Older building, but friendly service, quick check in. 2 bedroom suite was perfect for family of 6 with kitchenette and balcony."

"We stayed in room #530 Very clean, only complaint, needed better pillows and a harder mattress. A/C noisy, so made sure to turn it up at night so it didn't come on. Loved the breakfast, great variety. Staff very friendly. Perfect hotel if you want to walk to attractions. If you can walk 20,000 steps per day, this location is good. Underground parking at the hotel at $25 plus hst per night. 10 to 20 minutes walking to Byward Market, National Gallery, Notre Dame, Rideau Mall & Parliament Buildings. Very close to homeless shelter, so a lot of homeless people around. Just avoid Murray St and you'll be fine. Lot of homeless around the mall and numerous people begging in the market. We had no issues with any of them. We would stay here again a very well maintained property."

"My overall stay was fine, my room was okay. The AC intake needed a good vacuuming and the sink drain was slow to drain in room 1012. The staff was first rate. I did have trouble leaving the underground parking. My room key worked to open the gate, only to have the gate immediately close. I had to go back to the office, explain my issue and was given another key. Same result. I did find another guest key in the Dropbox and it worked. Go figure."
