The hotel is old so the floors are not exactly level but it adds to the charm. This place is about 150 years old. It has seen many historic figures pass through its doors, most noteworthy for me was Mark Twain. He’s been my favorite author all my life. This hotel is in the heart of Placerville and easy to walk the cute historic Main Street and close to lots of restaurants and shops. It’s definitely worth the visit if you’re stopping over in Placerville. It’s been very well maintained and in great condition for its age. I most especially loved the elevator!
