Central Asia contains countries such as Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Central Asia covers an extremely large area of land and is very varied in terms of geography. Here, one can find high mountains, like the Tian Shan, and grassy steppes upon which few or no trees grow, as well as vast deserts.
Eastern Asia includes the People's Republic of China and Japan. Most societies in eastern Asia have been a part of the Chinese cultural sphere, and even much of the vocabulary and writing are derived from Classical Chinese. Sometimes, Japan and Korea are referred to as being in northeastern Asia.
Northern Asia is dominated by Russia. While not all of Russia is in Asia, a small portion of this massive country resides in Europe, and many people think of Russia as almost a separate place from Asia. Siberia, Russia, is famous for its cold weather, as there are no mountain chains stopping Arctic air currents from flowing down over the plains.
In southeastern Asia, you will find locations like Vietnam and Cambodia. Most of the climate year-round is tropically hot and humid, with plenty of rainfall during the wet season. However, north Vietnam is an exception, as they normally have a cold winter. The southeastern Asian rain forest is the second-largest in the world.
Southern Asia includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and the subcontinent of India. Southern Asia is a melting pot of different cultures, which gives it a large ethnic diversity and makes for a fun and exciting vacation.
Western Asia is the home of Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Iran. As you might have guessed, much of the climate is made up of arid and semi-arid land, though there are large expanses of forest and green valleys tucked away here and there. These regions are beautiful to visit.
