Castle Waimea Country Lodge

"We love this lodge and stay here every time we are in Waimea, at least annually. The views from the spacious rooms are a gorgeous sight in the mornings. The staff are efficient, the parking and wifi free. The bathroom is also spacious. The location can't be beat, it's convenient and central to the quaint town. You will have a little noise from the upper units if you are in the bottom units, but the town is quiet and we have not had any terribly loud neighbors. Also, the area is rural and the water pressure is a bit weak. Regardless of those minor things, we absolutely love this little gem."

"Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the host was responsive and easy to work with. The home was well-stocked with quality linens, towels, and nice interior furnishings, and the location worked well for our rodeo weekend in Waimea. That said, there were a few issues that impacted our experience. Considering the $400 cleaning fee, we were surprised to find the stove dirty upon arrival, and many of the kitchen pans and cooking utensils were heavily worn and not very clean. We eventually found a newer set stored in a cabinet, which helped. The biggest concern for our group was the condition of the beds and pillows. After long days at the rodeo in cold, rainy weather, a comfortable place to rest is important. Unfortunately, the mattresses were extremely firm and the pillows offered very little support. Everyone in our group woke up sore, and we feel the bedrooms would greatly benefit from updated mattresses and bedding. We also experienced a significant roach issue during our stay. We encountered both large and small cockroaches throughout the home, particularly in the kitchen and bathrooms. We even found them crawling on bathroom counters and around personal items and toiletry bags left out overnight. With some attention to pest control, kitchen upkeep, and replacing the mattresses and pillows, this property could provide a much more comfortable experience for future guests."

"The space was exactly what we needed. There was an issue with outlets not working in the kitchen but Denisa responded immediately and the problem was fixed in a very timely manner. Everything was a 10/10!"

"Catrinka was a fabulous host, warm and welcoming, responsive and helpful. The rental itself was lovely, amazing views, peaceful and quiet, centrally located, clean, and very well-appointed. Catrinka has been welcoming guests for years, and has thought of all the ways to make guests feel right at home, with a fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of maps of the area, and suggestions of interesting things to do. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would love to come back again soon! Thanks Catrinka!"

"Nice place. The space outside is meant to be used the majority of the time. The living room is small. It was rainy and windy for most of our stay, so it was too cold and wet to be in the outside areas. Luckily we had places to go. The area that the house is in, there is a pocket of wet weather. The weather is different just a mile away. No a/c, but not needed in this cool environment. Very private. Enjoyed our stay! She allowed us to checkin early and checkout a little later. Waimea is beautiful!"
