"Absolutely wonderful - all the staff were really friendly and kind, the food was fantastic, everyone spoke v good English. Very clean. Massive meals - under-order! An absolutely beautiful pool and gorgeous views of the mountains, and a private little balcony on our room. Friendly cats visit during dinner (they go away if told). A brilliant experience."
"We were extremely happy with our experience at Estate Kares. We had a spacious room with a full kitchen and amazing views on three sides. We loved staying in a more rural setting, but with easy access to many really interesting and beautiful sights. The road into the estate is typical of rural Crete so be prepared for some bumps and turns. Our host, Georgia, offered a wealth of knowledge about what to see on the island and cooked fabulous traditional Cretan meals (her moussaka is not to be...
"We thought we were renting a “villa” as described in the listing. However, this is more like a dorm room. It is a motel complex of buildings with TINY rooms. We were trying to rent a VRBO home that we could have a dinner with friends. This room did not even have a table. There was a tiny island with seating for 3 people. Not even enough for the 4 of us much less having guests over. We were shocked by both the size and the setting.
From the photos on the listing, it looks like this unit has a...

"Amazing break at Stella Palace. Everything was super clean, and all the staff we encountered were courteous, happy and helpful.
Food is great, but the main buffet restaurant is super busy and can be a little repetitive. Staff do try to make it as pleasant as can be. The option of the a la carte restaurants is a winner! Made the evenings less chaotic than the buffet and the food was lovely.
Room clean and tidy, and bottles of water dropped off daily etc.
Only thing, if you want to get out and about because the hotel is a little isolated car hire should be considered, because taxis are not cheap, they seem to be €50 each way to go anywhere, which can quickly add up….this is not a fault of the hotel, just something we would consider if we came again."

"Finding the hotel was easy and check-in went by quick. I can’t remember much about the elevator in terms of size, but I do know that my mom and I, alongside each of our carry-on bags, fit just fine. The room was clean and the beds were good. I had no problems with noise and I am a light sleeper. The location of the hotel is very convenient as it is close to harbour and close to the main area of the city. It also close to two bus stations (one being the main bus station).
The only small thing that I noticed was that the door that led to the balcony wouldn’t lock. I tried several times, but the lock just wouldn’t latch on.
The area also felt safe, which was very important to us since we were two female travellers and we had to check out at around 2:00AM to catch the ferry. Even at that time of night, we didn’t feel unsafe walking around with our luggage.
Overall, it was a good stay that is positioned well in the city. "
"Very nice place. Excellent breakfast, and very helpful staff. Located right on the edge of Old Heraklion, so it's easy to walk there. Just a 10 minute walk to the port, so if you are arriving or departing by ferry, you won't need a taxi. If you are arriving by car, just push the button at the entrance, and they will raise the arm for you."

"Excellent hotel, everything from rooms to food to staff was excellent. Drinks are also excellent and not the cheap stuff you usually get with all inclusives. Having the restaurants within the hotel is very convenient and the food there is also great. Added bonus of having a desert restaurant which stays open into the night.
