The best area to stay in Therasia is Manolas, the island's capital and largest village.

Manolas is perched on a cliff edge, offering stunning views of Santorini across the caldera. It's a small, traditional village with narrow, winding paths, white-washed houses, and a few tavernas and shops scattered along its main thoroughfares. You'll find the central square, often bustling with local life, near the church of Agios Ioannis. It's the most developed area on the island, yet it retains a distinctly authentic Greek island feel.

For couples seeking a peaceful and romantic escape, Manolas is an excellent choice. The quiet evenings, breathtaking sunsets over the caldera, and the opportunity to truly disconnect make it ideal. You can enjoy long, leisurely meals at the local tavernas, taking in the views, and exploring the village's charming corners hand-in-hand.

Solo travellers looking for a tranquil retreat will also find Manolas appealing. It offers a sense of genuine local life, with opportunities to interact with residents and experience a slower pace.

For most travellers, the best time to visit Therasia is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from April to early June and again from September to October.

During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm and sunny, ideal for exploring the island's natural beauty and enjoying outdoor activities without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find fewer crowds compared to July and August, meaning a more relaxed experience at popular spots and easier access to local transport and restaurants. The sea temperatures are also very comfortable for swimming.

Couples looking for a romantic and tranquil escape will particularly appreciate the shoulder seasons. The quieter atmosphere allows for intimate dinners with caldera views and peaceful walks along the coastal paths. Many hotels offer better value during these times, providing a luxurious experience without the peak season price tag.

Families travelling with children will also find these periods more comfortable. The milder temperatures are better for little ones, and fewer tourists mean less stress navigating busy areas.
