Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa

"Paradise Found"
My husband & I stayed at the Renaissance Carambola Resort in November 2015 for our honeymoon and it was incredible. Beautiful location, friendly staff, delicious food & drinks, entertainment almost every night, beautiful pool area, AMAZING beach, spa on site , dive shop on site and more! 1.) The resort is about 30 minutes from the city areas (Frederiksted & Christiansted) - if you are booking a stay at this resort it is important to know that you are in a secluded area. That was exactly what we were looking for so it was perfect. If you are looking for a busy city/night life vibe, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind with amenities on site so that you do not need to leave if you don't want to, this is for you! If you want the best of both worlds - do what we a JEEP so that you can enjoy this resort and drive into town when you want! 2.) If you rent a vehicle - rent a jeep or something comparable. The roads are rough heading out to the resort (there are funny signs that say things like "think pot holes") - a jeep makes it much easier to handle the roads. Also - be prepared to drive on the other side of the road. 3.) Grocery Stores - Plaza Extra & K-Mart are great options! 4.) There may be bugs - This is a gorgeous untouched area on an island - with that, comes insects. Housekeeping will keep your room clean but you need to be sure not to leave food's as simple as that. It's a normal thing to expect

"Old but charming"
This is not any kind of resort, but the whole town is full of quite old buildings, so it's like its surroundings. Wood floors, pretty clean overall, a good continental breakfast, very nice and friendly staff and right in the middle of shopping, coffee, cafes, tours with boats, snorkeling, great beaches and even a Yoga business next door. You can walk anywhere locally and only need transportation if you want to go to Sugar Beach, Salt Bay or east to somewhere like Green Cay and Point Udall. And there's a car rental right there, too. I would come back.

"Excellent for the price"
We were there for my wife's birthday. We had a very nice oceanfront room. Anything we asked for was immediately addressed. It is not the Buccaneer, but neither are the prices. I think the government spends more money promoting tourism in St. John and St. Thomas than they do in St. Croix. Frederiksted, although it has excellent restaurants and a pleasant beach, is a ghost town when the cruise ships aren't there. Our favorite meal was at the Savant in Christainsted. Most restaurants except for The Terrace have limited seating so reservations are a good idea. We also ate at the Beach Side Café, Blue Moon, Rum Runners and the Bombay Club. All meals were delicious. We were never harassed anywhere we went in town and everyone was friendly and helpful. 2017 will be their big celebration.

"Right on the beach. Staff very accommodating"
Hotel was great. The only bad part that we had was that the café was not open. Thank goodness we had rented a car and was able to track down some food, a bit inconvenient, especially at breakfast time.

"Nice hotel right on the beach"
The hotel was under renovations while we were there but we barely noticed. The hotel was right on the beach and it was an amazing view! The beach to lay out on was perfect and quaint with great atmosphere. The resorts restaraunt was delicious and all the staff on the resort were very friendly! We plan to make another trip as soon as we can and bring all our family and friends! Great experience!
