"The ryokan is very convenient, it is close to Nara park and railway station. Staff is friendly and helpful, the hot tub is a huge plus although you may need to learn the manner of using it beforehand and it's a bit small, the capacity is 2 persons. However there is no passenger lift available, if you hate stairs you may need to reconsider."

"Fantastic ryokan experience. Service was outstanding and kaiseki dinner delicious. We also booked the private onsen for one hour which is a short 5 min walk. The location is super convenient as it’s next to restaurant, shops and the bus station. It’s not a western hotel with various amenities, so know what you are getting into upfront. "

"The Kyoto Ranzan is a fantastic place to stay in Arashiyama. It is tucked away from the tourist buzz but just next to the river, the Arashiyama park, the Tenryu-ji temple, the bamboo grove and the monkey park. The room was pleasant and had everything that you need. The food was varied, elegant and delectable. The bath was a pleasure. Very helpful staff as well. Highly recommended"

"Amazing ryokan stay in the heart of Kyoto; there’s a public bath you can try which is traditional and fun way to shower / bathe. When you check in they pour you tea and give you traditional sweet; they then go through breakfast times; breakfast in the room is amazing and must try. The set up of the beds was also done seamlessly and everyone was super courteous and polite - thank you for a great stay! "
