Montmartre Hotels Guide

On the highest hill of Paris rests the town of Montmartre. Once a starving artist town, it’s become more of a visitor destination in recent decades. However, you can still find pockets of local street art just waiting to be discovered.

If there is one sight you absolutely can’t miss in Montmartre, it’s Sacre-Coeur.

This mammoth cathedral is located on the summit of the tallest peak in Paris and is a crowning achievement in architecture. The domes, pillars, and stairs are only part of the lovely sights awaiting you. Once you enter the church, you can admire the many historical art pieces. The mosaics alone are worth a look, but you don’t want to miss the sight of the grand organ. Created by famed designer Aristide Cavaille-Coll, it’s often called the greatest organ in Paris. While you’re here, visit the Crypt. This area of the church houses the tombs of cardinals as well as a monument dedicated to religious figures killed during the World Wars. If you’re feeling up to it, you can also climb 300 steps to the tallest dome for an unparalleled view of the city below. Following all the sightseeing at the church, visit the mellower local spots in town, too. Enjoy some French pastries at a neighbourhood café or walk into an art gallery and pick up some wares. The town is ripe for exploration.

When you’re ready to call it a night, head back to your hotel close to Sacre-Couer. Luckily, you don’t have to climb any hills to find the best discounts on rooms in the area. Book your hotel in Paris right here on Expedia.ca to find the cheapest rates on inns and suites around. See the best of the city, without giving your wallet a hike.
