Rural bliss
A perfect end to our 5 weeks of travelling. A peaceful, scenic and relaxing stay with great hosts Gudrun and David. Although in a rural setting away from the maddening crowd it’s a short drive away to shops, beaches and restaurants. Grab cars are sometimes hard to get because of it’s isolated location so own transport would be an advantage. However just enjoying the surroundings in your own self contained cabin leaves little reason to venture out. Aircon is necessary in the Gate house as it doesn’t get the breeze the other cabins do.

Good view but comfort is a big question mark
The location & the beautiful paddy field was the main reason attracted us to book this chalet. However, there were a couple of things that we found disappointing: 1. We booked two houses, one up to 6 people and another up to 3 people. However when we checked in, we were told there was additional charges due to additional beds required. There was no such info during the booking process about additional charges for beds. When we checked in, the additional beds weren't even ready, it made us feel like we were threatened to pay otherwise we weren't allowed to check in. We ended up paying additional 15% for the extra beds! 2. The Malay houses weren't constructed correctly hence it was extremely hot inside the houses. Being local Malaysians we knew that Malay traditional houses are comfortable to stay in even when it is hot outside/35 degrees celsius. However the houses in Sunset Valley were not constructed for this benefit. 3. There is only 1 air-conditioner in Gate House which is located in the bedroom. But somehow the ventilation is so poor that the cool air could not go to the living room, make it hard to stay or sleep in the living room (the additional bed) 4. Farmer House is built above the ground. However there are big gaps between the wooden planks hence at night mosquitos were able to come in through the gaps despite all the doors/windows were closed. 5. Wifi is extremely weak - only book this location if you don't need wifi.

Dear Mr Kong, we are EXTREMELY surprised by your response especially since we had many friendly chats together and at that time you seemed to enjoy our place. Based on your review we would like to clarify a few things. 1. You booked the Farmers House for 4 persons and the Gate House for 2 persons on Hotels.com, but you came with a total of 9 persons. Hotels.com clearly allows and requires you to book for the exact number of persons staying in each of our houses. Had you booked the correct number of persons in the first place you would have been charged the correct price and the additional beds would have been ready. If we were nasty we could say you tried to cheat. 2. Our wooden Malay houses are all original houses from Langkawi island. They have been dismantled at its original place and re-build in Sunset Valley. The houses are between 60 and 180 years old. So not sure how you can claim the houses have not been constructed correctly since they have been constructed by local Langkawians many many years ago. 3. There is a strong ceiling fan in the living room of the Gate House and in addition to that we supplied you with an extra fan. 4. The gaps in the planks are part of the air flow the way the original Malay houses are built as I am sure you know since you are local Malaysians. And last but not least Wifi: We have a fibre-optic Wifi installed at Sunset Valley with two boosters. We had a number of guests on working holidays here who did their work on the internet every day without any problems actually they mentioned many times how good, fast and reliable the internet is in Sunset Valley. One additional point: It would have been nice to mention that we went out of our way to find you a personal taxi van with driver for two days during LIMA week when all other cars were booked. We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations.

Since all our houses are original Malay Kampung houses designed for natural air flow, most of our guests never use or want to use air-con. That is why we don't include the air-con fee into our house prices but only charge those guests who decide to use air-con. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Real farm house,peaceful to stay.
Very comfort to stay,homely feelings. Nearby no restaurant,if they could arrange food(especially in Ramadan month) well and good. Two cats are all the time getting inside,whenever we open the door,it was very much irritating. Nice pool,well maintenance. Staffs are very friendly.

Relaxing time in perfect setting
Spent 3 nights at Sunset valley with wife and 2 children. The location is close to everything in Langkawi however you feel miles away from anywhere with the jungle and rice padi fields surroundings.

Away from the crowds, yet close to everything.
Really lovely cabin up in the interior of Langkawi. Very peaceful place to stay. Best to hire a car, then everything is within 45 mins. Gudrun and David are lovely hosts.

Idyllic stay in Langkawi
We had a such relaxing and fun stay at Sunset Valley. It's located at a really idyllic area. Good for people who like to be close to nature.The property has a really nice garden and breathtaking view of the valley and sunset we found ourselves spending quite a bit of time in, cooking by the pool, which was excellent overlooking a vast rice field. One afternoon we were watching sunset in the far end while swimming in the rain and admiring a double rainbow arching over the mountains behind the resort. The owner explained thoroughly how to use he resort, amenities that's available for free or for a fee, left us to give us privacy and was also always available when we needed them. I had some questions regarding getting around the property prior to our stay, Gudrun was always very prompt at responding to our queries. All the houses were spread out from each other, so everyone has a lot of privacy. A place we would go back to.

Amazing!
What an amazing place! This is the second time we have stayed here and it was even better than the first time 2 years ago. Gudrun and David have done an exceptional job of creating a beautiful comfortable set of bungalows whilst also staying sympathetic and authentic to Langkawi. It is so tranquil and we loved sitting on our private porch listening to and watching the incredible birds that fly through the garden - kingfishers, hornbills, orioles. We enjoyed lounging by the pool that overlooks the rice padi and we used the bbq pavillion by the pool one evening for our dinner, using food bought from the local supermarket and some of the supplies provided in the on-sight shop. I would recommend having a car here so that you have more freedom to explore. David and Gudrun are full of useful local information and helped book a mangrove tour for us. I have a feeling we will definitely be back and have already recommended it to a few friends.

Great place to unwind for a few days
Comfortable and relaxing stay. There was a great ambience about the place, beautiful gardens, and satisfying breakfasts to set us up for the day. Gudrun was very knowledgeable and gave us some good tips of places to see in the surrounding area.

Chilling out at Sunset Valley
Sunset Valley is an excellent place to stay if you would like to relax away from the busy tourist areas of Langkawi. David and Gudrun are great hosts and happy to inform you on anything you may wish to know of this beautiful Island. They organised a small hire car for us to visit all corners of it a and we stayed in the Paddy Cabin which is a comfortable yet rustic restored 180 year old local timber building. The views across the rice paddies as you relax in the swimming pool are superb and we will certainly be recommending this place to all of our friends. We look forward to returning there again in the future.

Gorgeous houses in a stunning location
Well equipped and delightful Malaysian traditinal houses that have been livingly rebuilt at this location and fitted with modern bathrooms. The houses were very comfortable and immaculately clean. The swimming pool was in my top five. I could swim, overlooking paddy fields, in a pool as warm as a bath, with Kingfishers and Kites flying around. My husband and I, plus our two grown up daughters all enjoyed our stay and hope to return. The owners were happy to provide help with car hire, tips on great beaches and information on the island. Their attention to detail and customer care makes this a wonderful place to stay.

Relax time
It was a family trip for 3 nights to Langkawi with a baby. The owner of the vally was helpful. The environment was very good to be relax with a view of green nature. Has got a nice swimming pool. It will be good to have a car or motorbike or they can be rented easily. Local foods are cheap and very delicious.

Escape to an oasis
After spending too long in Malaysian cities our time at Sunset Valley was such a pleasure and a relief! Facilities are excellent and Goodren takes good care of her guests. We loved this place!

Nice bungalow kampong style
Hotel about 20 minutes drive to anywhere , taxis about 30 MYR each way . No room service , you have to clean up your mess. Typical kampong style bungalow , roof not completely sealed , many insects & creepy crawlies can get in at night. Have to sleep under mosquito net , air conditioning extra charge . Breakfast is extra also . Bungalow is fully equiped with kitchen utensils , stove , fridge etc....Beautifully landscaped , pool is excellent . WIFI is free. No TV

私たちの旅行スタイル的に最高の宿泊ができました。 場所は山の上、周囲には何もない静かな環境ですがレンタルバイク30分ほどでビーチに行けますし、道すがら立ち寄る超ローカルなレストランやカフェバーが何より楽しかった。 2泊予定でしたがパートナーも気に入ったので3泊。 オーナーも素敵な方で気持ちの良い滞在ができました。 このホテル泊まるためにまたランカウイ行きたいねって話してます。

非常安静惬意，住客少，泳池超棒。开空调要另加钱，晚上房间开窗不会很热，但是蚊虫较多不敢开窗，所以空调是必须，另加钱不合理。

This is a fantastic place, authentic style bungalows, very spacious, very charming, but modern as well, great pool, in the rice fields, and very welcoming owners that took great care of us and our 3 children. Don't hesitate!

Close to nature in central Langkawi
Lovely place in the middle of Langkawi. Beautiful houses and Gudrun is a very helpful host. You rent the house, but beware that this is not a full service hotel. You can be self catering and you might encounter the occasional frog in your bathroom as you are close to nature in those traditional houses

Sehr ruhige wunderschöne Anlage im Herzen von langkawi für Besucher, die sich so richtig erholen wollen , man ist innerhalb der Anlage sehr autonom und hat wirklich reichlich Platz und Intimsphäre, man kann sich auch im Minishop jederzeit zu sehr fairen Preisen spontanversorgung zum Essen und Trinken holen

Nice Place to stay if you want to stay out of the touristic places. Nice hosts who are very helpful. Nice small Malay houses in the middle of the rice fields. You need a car or scooter to get around. There is no restaurant at Sunset Valley, but kitchen to cook by your self. Would like to go back again.

Schöne Anlage im Grünen
Schöne Holzhäuser in einem sehr gepflegtem Garten in toller Lage mit Pool. Nette Gastgeber. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und das vorgefunden was wir erwartet hatten.
