Overall, quite good. The best part was the breakfast. The electronics in the room were not all working. Close to the BTS and nice to get up the Mahanakhon.

The hotel is good for the price and has a great location especially if you want to go out to the Silom area. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The music in the elevator has not changed and the hallways are looking tired. The rooms are nice. It IS a solid property but it does not exude luxury like some of the other hotels in Bangkok but it does not cost as much either. I would recommend this hotel if you are able to get a good rate and want to stay in the Silom/Sathon area.

Style over substance
As a good member I was entitled to an upgrade, but even though it’s low season, I was told all the rooms were booked. My corner room (1602) was on a high floor, as I requested, and was very big and with fantastic views, however the constant noise from the BTS trains screeching to a halt in the station in front of the hotel was unpleasant: clearly the hotel’s double glazing isn’t thick enough. I wore earplugs at night to sleep. The pool and its area are lovely, but small. The sauna is so small. The gym is nice. Breakfast is awful: very small portions badly cooked: even the bread wasn’t toasted properly, so dry; no butter or salt/pepper or sugar served, had to ask and wait a long time for all of it to arrive. Coffee is not good either. Nice space though, but a little crammed. It’s show over substance. The split lifts are annoying too.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Standard in Bangkok. The hotel itself is a destination in it's own right. It also has beautiful views and the the staff are all excellent. I highly recommend this hotel and would award it 6 stars if I could.
