"A lovely small hotel situated above Funchal near the main cable car station. The views over Funchal to the sea are very special. Exceptionally friendly, kind and helpful staff. The breakfast is generous and varied. We had a comfortable and well equipped suite which had its own small balcony and a patio shared with a neighbouring suite. "I liked the place was great clean , quiet the entrance is down an ally with a restaurant which is fine but once restaurant closes it is very dark . I would stay there again . Ordering a car service if you have 4 pp better price than bus service and more personable "

"The location is probably the only thing that is worth mentioning. The building is very old and everything is the department is poorly maintained. There a a few restaurants right underneath and you will be bathed with cooking smells pretty much 24x7 (we were on the 6th floor and can’t imaging how much worse on lower floors). Parking is ridiculous and you need a lot of help from your friends to get in and out. "

"Rental unit is located above a busy and loud shopping mall. So if you want a quieter place x this isn’t it. We were here only 3 nights and the in-unit washer broke on first use. Someone came to fix it the next day, but upon second use it broke again. We ended coming back and fixing it ourselves, YouTube to the rescue. Got our clothes out soaking wet and had to mop up the kitchen too. If you like to DIY around the house, stay here. "

"I liked location. I didn't like that there was no tea and coffee added every day in the room when run out. You have to go to the restaurant or bar just to have cup of tea."

"I loved this hotel being central for town, bus station, boat trips and market. Very helpful friendly staff and ideal for solo female, safe door lock. Buffet breakfast included and adequate with fresh fruit and pastries. Front room does overlook small bar table area but not overly noisy and no music. Cathedral close by and main tourist attractions/museum. Bus to airport 9 at end of road which is promenade walking area and sea. Great short stay. Steps to access."

"We highly recommend this hotel. It was in a very good location to get to the Mercado and the cable car, as well as any place in Funchal. We don’t recommend having a car in Funchal. It’s definitely a walking town. Special thanks to the receptionist. She makes the hotel a higher rating. She was very helpful with recommendations and overall being so dedicated to us having a terrific stay. We would stay here again, unfortunately it was already booked "

"I recently stayed three nights at Pier House, and loved it. The location was excellent, just a block from the center and the waterfront. The room was pleasant and spacious. The concierge, Andre, could not have been more friendly or helpful in providing airport transfer, car rental, and advice. He helped me squeeze the most out of my too-short time in Madeira. "The hotel was incredibly good value. We loved our stay and no ask was too much of the extremely friendly staff, we were provided with packed breakfasts when out early for trips and helped us to get car hire easily too. The only thing which could improve would be the breakfast service. Food was good for the price but the way in which you have to queue up and point to what you would like is strange and seems unnecessary and can be difficult if there are language barriers. "Excellent location right in the centre by the seafront . Enormous 2 bed flat , fully equipped. Staff onsight to check you in. Beds very firm good for me but not everyone s comfort. Needed more than one fan didn't ask if could have more as weather just becoming hot as left. The warning of very late night , very early morning noise , music, talking, putting away and setting out restaurants was accurate, so we expected it.
