Contrary to popular belief, Iceland is actually only made up of about 10 percent ice in the form of glaciers. The rest of the country has a surprisingly mild climate considering its northern location on the globe. Part of Iceland's mild climate can be attributed to the nearby Atlantic Gulf Stream, which frequently brings warm air from the south up to Iceland. Therefore, depending on when you choose to travel, the country can be either quite cold or rather mild in temperature.

There is a lot to see and do in Iceland, so you will probably need to book your stay for at least a week in order to get a good amount of exploring done. Among the most famous sites in the entire country that most travellers make it a point to check out is The Blue Lagoon. This is one of just a few geothermal spas located in the world; the water temperatures there are toasty, even during the coldest months of the year. Not to mention, the mineral-rich water is great for the skin. This destination, located between the Keflavik Airport and Reykjavik, is great for people of all ages.

Iceland is also a great place for those who enjoy outdoor activities, particularly hiking and ice climbing. Hikers should be careful of the notoriously rough and unforgiving terrain, however. Most trails are not suitable for beginners!

Overall, there is so much to see and do for people of all ages in Iceland. As you begin planning your trip, consider searching for the top Iceland hotels and Iceland hotel deals. This way, you can locate the lowest rates and prices for your rooms and have more money to spend on fun activities. Depending on when you travel, you can take advantage of some wonderful Iceland hotel packages and land a special discount on hotels in Iceland. Rooms tend to go fast, though, so be sure to book that cheap Iceland hotel deal as soon as you find it!

"The best hotel central to everything."
Fabulous hotel, breakfast plentiful (at extra cost) a good start to busy days. Most museums, restuarants and shops within easy walking distance. Tours were bookable from reception, pick ups from the hotel in minibuses as road not suitable for big coaches. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were always friendly and helpful.

    "Short Break to Reykjavik"
Great hotel in perfect location for all tours, sightseeing etc. I agree with many others that it can get a little noisy on a weekend but unless you are a very light sleeper don't let that bother you. Staff are very friendly and happy to help with booking tours, restaurants though eating at the hotel was very nice so worth a try. We upgraded to a junior suite which wasn't much more than the standard room and from what I picked up from other guests we did the right thing as our room was quite spacious and it was nice to have a leather corner sofa to chill out on instead of just the bed. Iceland is a stunning place and this hotel is tucked away nicely so as a base to do the tours we booked which was the northern lights by boat ( dress warm! ), a super jeep golden circle day ( awesome, especially glacier part ) and Blue Lagoon en route back to the airport. Don't let the rumour about high prices put you off, if you can stomach London rates then you will be fine and this as with many other hotels / bars, do a happy hour from 5-7pm every day with a beer at about £2.50. If you wanted to avoid the noise issue then book one of the other Centerhotel's in the town which were a little more remote but still within walking distance of the sights. Cant recommend the place or hotel too highly, only had 3 days there which is maybe a little too short but will definitely be back....now go and book up!!!

"Nice and comfortable place to stay"
We were passing thru and decided to stay a night at a local hotel , so we looked on expedia. We chose this location at around $130.00, went in to book in - staff said to just do it at counter not to bother with the app First transaction was over 340.00, with a disagreement , then they repeated the situation at approx $230 with confusion over which currency was being used. My partner got annoyd and just got his phone and bkd on the app which wrkd fine straight away and we were good to go. The situation was annoying, but unintentional from the staff. The hotel was great otherwise :-)

    "Great hotel with excellent staff."
This hotel is in a good location just outside Vik. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a very good size. Bathroom was very good. Breakfast was excellent. Buffet dinner both nights was great. If you are inclined take a short walk down the dirt road at the side for a fantastic view of the nearby glacier.
