My partner and I lodged here for one night, we just wanted a quick beach trip. We loved the location and how close it was to the beach and other stores/restaurants. For the most part, the property was well maintained and clean, but they were doing construction, so one wing of the hotel was closed off. I noticed it smelled good upon entering the lobby and in the hallways, which I appreciated. Check in was seamless. However, upon entry to our room, there was a dead bug on the bathroom floor, my partner had to clean the pool some before we got in and that night, we had to request fresh sheets because all of the sheets on our bed had hair on them. The complimentary breakfast was quite underwhelming.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location. Restaurants and shops in walking distance. Easy commute to historic district in Charleston. All rooms are oceanfront. Beautiful and easy access to the beach. Small balcony, bring your own camping chairs to sit on it. The hotel is a little dated. We didn’t like rooms not being painted and freshening up scratches . You had to wait until almost 5 pm before cleaning staff came to replace towels make beds. We are used to that being handled by noon. We felt the floors in the room had not been cleaned before arrival. There is a small refrigerator in the room but no microwave which would have been convenient. There was also no phone to reach the front desk. There were two elevators, but one was frequently out of service causing wait times. Overall, we enjoyed a lot about staying at the Tides. We wish they would work a little more on freshening up the rooms and cleaning. The beach and walkable restaurants make it very convenient.
