I was travelling solo and the Rex was the perfect place for it! It’s in one of the many hearts of the city, there is so much to do just on queen street alone. The staff were kind, the food at The Rex was delicious and the jazz music happening every night was just phenomenal! I would absolutely stay again
The hotel was well placed, walking distance for the downtown, the bar / restaurant was good, The room itself was ok if you were looking for a place to sleep and not really spend any time in the room.
The hotel is an appendix to a popular live-music jazz bar and restaurant. It's got a small reception room and a few decent bedrooms for guests. The main attractions are the price, the location in the middle of town, the close proximity (less than 10 minutes walk) to the Art Gallery, and the free access to live music. My only gripe is that the complimentary breakfast is only available from 9:30am. There are earlier alternatives nearby, though.
Small, nothing fancy but perfect for a stay in downtown Toronto. Clean and comfortable, with a small breakfast provided, or a larger one for extra.
The subway is steps away, and Union Station a 10 minute walk.
There are two jazz sessions each night.
The rooms were nice and air conditioning was amazing during the heatwave! For the price the stay was splendid! Air conditioning was on point! The staff were so kind and helpful especially the cleaning staff!

The staff were all helpful and friendly, the music in the bar was great. The food at the bar was better than most other restaurants we ate at. You can hear the music from the room but they stop at respectful times. The only complaint we have was the bed needed a new mattress, it was hard and uncomfortable
It was a no frills cozy place to stay.
Great beds and shower.
Excellent area. Wish we had more time to explore. Super friendly staff .
Easy check in and out.
Next time will check out the restaurant and entertainment.

I wasn’t sure what to expect on arrival as the lobby is very small. Our room was on the second floor - walk up.
We chose a room with a private bathroom. The room and bathroom were very clean and there are no funky smells anywhere in the hotel.
The only reason I am giving a four star is because the property does need a fresh coat of paint and updated artwork and possibly new furniture.
The cost was a little high for the condition of the hotel but I felt safe while staying there.

Centrally located, good price and meets the requirement of a bed and shower. No frills hotel in Toronto at a reasonable rate.
It is a very good value for the price
Many hotels were $400 to $700. This was centrally located in the heart of Toronto. Near chinatown eatons centre old/new city hall. We took a 10 minute uber to the disterely district. The room was clean no bed bugs etc. A bit older but amazing value. Had a great breakfast and coffee at the same location for under $20.
Property in great location
Walling distance to Roger center cn tower ,eatons center.
Property as described I'm posting
Staff very friendly and helpful
We would absolutely stay again.
