"The hotel is located not far from downtown, which is very convenient. The room is clean, the bed is comfortable. The pool, sauna, and jacuzzi are all excellent. It would be even better if parking was free for hotel guests and there were bottles of drinking water in the room."

"This place was great other than getting there late and having no staff to greet us. It was a bit concerning to be honest. Doors are locked at night but there is no security working at night. Otherwise it was a great spot. The town is beautiful and very safe. Very walkable."

"The room was spotless, literally. The bathroom fixtures were shiny with NO water stains! The room was spacious and the bed was so comfy that I had to drag my wife out of bed - we were late checking out because she didn’t want to leave but the staff was very understanding. A friend suggested a hotel that was close but it was more expensive than the Empress, not as conveniently located a none of the old school charm. We went to the tea shoppe before our sitting for high tea and I loved that I was given a’cheat sheet’ to assist me and my wife in choosing our tea. I look forward to a return visit."

"We were fortunate to stay in this brand-new building, which is perfectly designed for travelers who land, need a convenient place to crash, and take off the next morning. It doesn’t try to be an over-the-top luxury resort, but instead nails the essentials with a bright, cheery atmosphere and unbeatable affordability compared to surrounding hotels. The staff were incredibly welcoming. We loved the handy lobby map showing distances to local stores, and having access to a gym with the necessities, a basic pool, and travel laundry machines was a huge plus. The room was quiet (no plane noise until 6:30 AM), well-lit, and had individual climate control. It features a comfy couch, functional work desk, plenty of charging plugs, and a spotless, very comfortable bed with great pillows. The kitchenette was well-supplied, and they even post a sign letting you know you can borrow extra gear (like a blender or rice maker) from the front desk. The bathroom had everything we needed, including a brilliant design touch: the shower faucet is on the entrance wall instead of under the shower head, so you don't get blasted with cold water when you turn it on. Thanks for the great experience being back on home soil! Highly recommended."

"This hotel is all about location. The staff are lovely. It is definitely an older hotel but well kept. No air conditioning which is very standard in most hotels. However the temperature in Victoria is often mild with a cool ocean breeze."
