"Bathtub and bedding were not clean. Tub had a black ring. Water was standing to the ankle during shower. Maintenance came 3x before shower was unclogged, My daughter pulled out hair from drain. There was black stuff in tub and wall after maintenance came for the 4th time. Hotel was booked could not move to another room."

"We had high expectations based upon the ungodly amount of money it costs to stay for just one night. Parking was difficult to get into as there were cones blocking it off. No valet service. We had to find someone to allow us into the garage. Check in was at 4pm, perfect for us as we had just ended the game at Wrigley Field. Our room wasn't ready until nearly 6pm. They gave us 4 free drinks from their bar. An hour into our wait they offered us 2 free appetizers, but only after I politely asked since our guests were getting hungry. As a result of this we missed our dinner reservation as we were not able to get into our room and freshen up after the game. The two appetizers held us over as we refused to spend more money in this hotel and was too tired to gonfind food. Once we got to our room it was warm. Thermostat read 65° but never kicked on until we had maintenance come up to check the unit. He instructed us to not touch the panel and he promises the room will cool down fast. They offered us a fan but the room never cooled off. Morning showers were nearly unbearable as the heat and moisture grew thicker and thicker. No windows to crack open. No microwave. No refrigerator. We loved the convenience of walking across the street to the ballpark. However, we will never pay to stay here again."

"Although the staff was great, the elevator has been down for weeks and now prospects of when it would be fixed. Staff had to haul guests and their luggage in a dirty freight elevator that jerked you when it stopped. Be aware tbat you have to park down the street and walk back to the hotel. The entryway to the hotel was so full of air freshener it was hard to breathe. The rooms are very small, there is no fan in the bathroom and the windows didn't shut entirely. The lip of the bathroom entry caught your foot when walking through. I really wanted to like this place but our Anniversary stay was not enjoyable."

"The hotel was fine for my purposes. The room was clean and so was the bathroom and the bed was very comfortable but there aren’t really any amenities to speak of. But I didn’t really mind that as all I need is a clean room with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. I used to live in Lake View East and was happy to be back in my old neighborhood again!!! If I would have liked one thing, that would have been a coffee maker in the room but other than that I was very satisfied with my stay and would defend motley stay there again. If you are looking for a clean and friendly no frills hotel in the best neighborhood in Chicago, the Mahestic fits the bill!!"
