The bar and restaurant spaces were booked for private events both evenings of our stay and were a bit noisy but we were warned at check in and the hotel have made attempts to install sound proofing for the rooms. Very dark but fun. We had a suite that was perfect, light clean comfortable. Coffee machine, bathrobes, good bathroom amenities,king bed. Unusual selection in the ‘mini bar area’. It was a hot day but room was lovely. and cool. There was music until 1am apparently but we didn’t hear it in our first floor room. Sitting in the bar area there were so many people coming into the hotel and disappearing into various out of sight rooms, had no idea what was going on but it made it all the more intriguing..lighting is very ‘ambient’, tripped a couple of times in the corridors (I do wear glasses), got lost coming out of the lift on wrong floor, and took me several minutes to get the door to the room open with the strange key lock mechanism. Lovely Full-English breakfast. As we generally only stay in 5\* hotels , and don’t normally feel a need to leave a review as they are what you expect However on this occasion I feel that it is only right that we comment The hotel is privately owned and a one off boutique, which is decorated in all areas with original one off furniture and fine art , it is NOT your usual travel lodge magnolia blandness . There was mold in the shower, the taps in the bathroom washbowl were lose, the plug in the sink did not work. For a hotel costing this much I expect a decent steam iron in the room and not just a cheap hot plate. There was coffee making facilities in the room and the fridge was well stocked with alcohol...but no milk, creamer or even powder for my coffee. Also no full length mirror in the room except the door to the bathroom but the bed was right next to it which made it useless as a mirror.
