Welcome to Rainbow Cabin, our happy place in Kings Beach! Just a short stroll to Lake Tahoe's shores and local restaurants, this modern 5 (or 6!) bedroom retreat blends comfort with playful charm. Gather around the fireplace in winter, sip wine on the patio in summer, or challenge family to one of our many board games any season. With thoughtful touches at every turn and spaces designed for both togetherness and privacy, our home invites you to create lasting Tahoe memories.

I designed Rainbow Cabin from the ground up as the perfect year-round retreat for families and friends wanting to experience the best of Lake Tahoe. What I love most is how it balances togetherness with privacy - our bright, open living area with its cozy fireplace naturally draws everyone together - while five (or 6!) uniquely decorated bedrooms offer peaceful retreats when you need some downtime.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I built this house with my husband, selecting every finish and feature ourselves. We designed it using an eco-friendly building method that creates less waste, and the whimsical decor reflects our belief that vacation homes should feel special and joyful. I take pride in being responsive and attentive to my guests' needs - I may be in St. Louis, but I'm always just a text away!

Whether you're planning a ski weekend with friends, a summer beach vacation with family, or a shoulder-season hiking retreat, Rainbow Cabin offers the perfect blend of comfort, style, and convenience. Many guests tell me they appreciate our "happy house" vibe and often book return stays for different seasons.

The host requires you complete the following before checking out:
DON'T strip or make your bed! BUT if you could help us distinguish USED beds versus CLEAN, that would be great! Then our cleaners only wash dirty linens - saving significant water, energy and time
Collect all used towels and pile on bathroom floor (or bathtub or sink). They always look at the towels/beds, but it makes it easier on them if you can clearly distinguish clean from dirty!
Collect all the trash and put it in the bearbox and/or the garage. That's it! Thank you for your help!

This home is the most beautiful VRBO or Airbnb we have ever rented. Our group consisted of six adults and four children. The bedroom layout was fantastic; three large bedrooms with en suite and two sweet kids rooms (twin beds in each) with a shared bathroom. Each room decorated with beautiful linens, cool light fixtures, and wallpaper, etc. The living/kitchen/dining area is open concept and designed so that there was never a shortage of seating for everyone. Great long table for meals and puzzles and games (home has tons of both). The home is stocked with every possible amenity, coffee bar; wine fridge; shampoo etc., paper goods, beach towels; hair dryers; etc. We could go on and on - just a beautiful property and absolutely pristine.The location was a very pleasant surprise. Literally one short block from the main road with restaurants, shops, a playground, and the beach. And as it was our first time to Tahoe, we were amazed at how many beautiful hiking options there are within a short drive.Can't say enough good things about this rental. Our California family who were staying in the area were very impressed and will likely try to stay there in the future for ski trips.The host, Cecilia, was so nice to deal with and could not have been more helpful. Great memories for our Boston family!

Rainbow Cabin

Our stay at Rainbow Cabin was so delightful! The Cabin is beautiful, well stocked, above and beyond expectation. The owner thought of everything. They made us feel like family. No detail was missed. The interior of the cabin was clean, inviting and spacious. The large dining table is great for mealtime, playing games or catching up on some work. The beds were very comfortable. Loved the colorful whimsical artwork. The whole vibe of the house is chill and fun! Enjoyed the back yard with its nice patio and fire pit. We made s’mores. If you love hiking this is the perfect spot. Easy to more challenging hikes are just pleasant scenic drives from the cabin. Loved this area of the lake! Laid back, less congested, short walk to the beach and restaurants made it ideal for us. We will only stay at Rainbow Cabin on our future trips to Lake Tahoe.

Would stay here again!

Rainbow Cabin is what is described in the listing! My large family enjoyed our stay very much and would love to stay here again. There is a nice big backyard, where we were able to enjoy the snow. I had great communication with the host, Cecilia, who made sure we had everything we needed and more. The kitchen had everything you’d need to cook and bake. The bathrooms were stocked with lots of towels, toilet paper, and toiletries in case you forgot any. The bedrooms were super cute, cozy, and comfortable. I love that most of the bedrooms had their own bathrooms. It was easy to feel at home. The downstairs bedroom is perfect if you have anyone that cannot walk up and down stairs. The beach, grocery stores, many shops are within walking distance. We had 3 cars, so we appreciated being able to park in the garage and driveway. Thank you for the amazing stay!

We had a great stay! The house was really spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of room for our group of 6 adults and 4 kids. The location can’t be beat, close to everything including the lake. The house was also well stocked and had everything we needed. We loved using the grill! We will stay here again.

Great getaway

The house was very clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable. It was two blocks from the beach. Three rooms are en-suite and two rooms share a full bath with a powder room downstairs. I would stay here again with delight.

Rainbow Retreat

I’ve been renting family vacation houses for 32 years and this one is in the top 3. Almost every bedroom has a bathroom, the location is close to activity, easy walking distances for a busy family meeting friends, nicely appointed kitchen for cooking - checked off nearly all my boxes. Would definitely rent it again! Thank you for a clean and cared-for property.

Rainbow Retreat

We rented Rainbow Retreat for a weeks family vacation. There were 8 adults and a 3.5 yr old. The house held us all wonderfully. The beds were VERY comfortable and the bedrooms ample. The 4.5 bathrooms were clean and plentiful....no line no wait. The location is as good as it gets. A short 4 minute walk to Kings Beach and all the shops close by along with easy access to walking trails make this a 5 star VRBO. We cooked a lot of meals and the kitchen and island made it easy to crank out the meals. The gas fireplace made the cool alpine nights cozy and comfy. The furnishings and decoration are both comfortable and subtle. We all loved our stay at Rainbow Cottage! We hope to return!

Great for 2 families!

This house was perfect for two families to stay for the week. Total of 4 adults and 5 kids ages 9, 7, 5, and 2 yr old twins. The two master bedrooms made it a plus for the adults. Easy access to King’s Beach and restaurants as it’s only 1 block off the main road. There’s even a cute little library at the end of the block that the 2 year olds enjoyed. Hiking trails a few blocks behind the house. We had no issues with parking 2 cars. Would absolutely recommend if you’re looking to stay near King’s Beach!

I. LOVE. THIS. HOUSE.

I absolutely loved this property! It is completely brand new and redone, and they did everything to perfection. The house is super clean, colorful, comfortable, spacious and fun. They really paid attention to the details - from the fantastic art, to the cozy furnishings, to the color and cheeriness of each and every room. Our two families (with kids) stayed for several nights and had plenty of room and space. We were so comfortable we wanted to stay longer. The kids especially enjoyed playing in the snow in the large, fenced in backyard. This was a godsend - snow forts and snowball fights galore (i.e., hours outside). The proximity to the beach, shops and restaurants is unbeatable. We were able to walk to Whitecaps Pizza (great) to pick up our order and bring home - no biggie even in the middle of winter. The property manager was friendly and responsive. All around this was a fantastic trip, and we can't wait to book again. I bet it is even better in the summer with its ideal location, in close proximity to the lake. We will be back for that!
