The best area to stay in Val De Gilly is the village centre itself, particularly around the Place de la Fontaine.

This area is the heart of Val De Gilly, offering a central location with easy access to local amenities. You'll find the main square, Place de la Fontaine, which is often a focal point for village life, surrounded by a few traditional shops and a boulangerie. The streets here are narrow and winding, typical of a Provençal village, with stone houses and occasional glimpses of the surrounding countryside.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find the village centre appealing. It provides a peaceful setting for enjoying local cuisine at the few restaurants, taking leisurely strolls through the historic lanes, and experiencing the authentic pace of Provençal life. Many holiday rentals here offer private terraces, superb for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening aperitif.

For families, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre, but still within a short walk, can be an excellent choice. These properties often come with larger gardens and private swimming pools, providing more space for children to play.

The best time to go to Val De Gilly is during the late spring (May-June) or early autumn (September-October) when the weather is pleasantly warm without the intense heat of summer.

These shoulder seasons provide ideal conditions for exploring the region's natural beauty and charming villages. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience when visiting attractions like the lavender fields or local markets.

For those planning an active holiday, such as hiking or cycling through the Luberon Natural Regional Park, these months offer comfortable temperatures for outdoor pursuits. The vineyards are lush in spring and vibrant with harvest colours in autumn, making it a beautiful time for wine tasting tours.

If you're seeking a tranquil escape, these periods are perfect.
