We loved our stay at Puerta Azul. They have their own dock to start snorkeling and kayaking from, as well as boat pickups of you prefer tours to reach farther destinations.
Breakfast onsite was great with a weekly rotating menu. One thing to note is that the onsite restaurant is the only convenient but expensive option for lunch and dinner. The main road is not comfortably walkable, although we did do it a few nights for more variety. The front desk can also call taxis for you.
The reef outside had some amazing snorkeling and was the highlight of the stay. We saw an octopus, 2 types of rays, jellyfish, squid, and countless fish species over the span of 5 days. Very few other hotels have set up here so we had the reef all to ourselves.

Still amazing! Great updates and superb food!
It had been a few years since our last stay at Hotel Mayan Princess, and we couldn't be happier with our return. The recent renovations look fantastic, and the entire property is extremely well-maintained and beautiful.
A special thanks to the staff (particularly Jenn) for being so warm and helpful throughout our stay. To top it all off, the food was spectacular, just as I remembered!
Can't wait to visit again.
