What was great:
1. Superb location: on airport line, 5 min from train station, center of Hongdae, 3 min to the walking street with food and shopping, Lotteria burger joint in the building
A note to those wondering re MyeongDong vs Hongdae: Hongdae has a nicer youthful vibe, MyeongDong has a touristy rip you off feel. However, we ended up visiting MyeongDong a number of times as the NANTA show was there and there were a number of recommended restaurants
2. Functional rooms
Rooms were small but everything was provided for. Loved the large bottles of soaps shampoos and moisturisers
3. Amenities: Gym which opens 6am - 10pm. Coin operated washing machines and dryers 24hours. Lounge on 21st floor which is supposed to be 24hours but was closed early morning.
What was not:
1. Noisy rooms: We were put on level 6 (2nd lowest level) facing the road, and the road noise, the horning (not sure why the motorists horn so much), the merrymaking could be heard very clearly. Windows were NOT double glazed. Could not sleep at all on the first night we arrived
Pro tip: Pay for the family (1 double and 1 single) or the triple room to get a room which faces away from the main street. Apparently they do not have normal type rooms which face away - at least that was what I was told when I went to ask. I think that it is worth it.
2. Lack of concierge, bell hops to help with the luggage. We arrived closed to midnight and we had to move all our luggage ourselves.
