The neighbourhood of Aurelio is a good choice if you are looking for somewhere affordable and authentic to stay in Rome. As a mostly residential area, it is populated by families, senior citizens and young professionals. Join them in the evenings as they gather in restaurants and cafés that open out onto the sidewalk. And when you feel like stepping into the more touristic side of the city, Vatican City is right next door, bordering the neighbourhood. Spend a few hours discovering the highlights of Aurelio at your own pace. As well as peaceful cafés and restaurants, the neighbourhood is home to a few green spaces that offer good locations for some reading in the sun. Make your way to the lovely park Villa Abamelek, the largest green space. Directly to the northeast of the neighbourhood is Vatican City, where you will find some of Rome’s most famous sights. Outside, in St. Peter’s Square, the crowds of tourist grow steadily throughout the day. But when you feel like escaping the hubbub, the tranquil neighbourhood of Aurelio is just minutes away.
