Preserved by its remoteness and the dry desert heat, the remains of an early 20th-century mine make it look as though it was abandoned just a few years ago.
Commune with nature and explore the great outdoors at Panamint Dunes during your travels in Death Valley. While you're here, you can savor the top-notch restaurants.
The perfect introduction to Death Valley is this lookout near the entrance, where fighter jets occasionally whiz by on their way to nearby Rainbow Canyon.
"Stayed in a cabin which, although small, was perfectly adequate & comfortable. It was located near a small man-made stream with lush vegetation: a real birding hotspot. Nearby restaurant/bar was good and another plus, and the location was great for attractions in and near the west side of Death Valley."

"This place is nice and neat. Great little motor court. The staff were very nice and friendly. Breakfast was simple but good. It is not far from town where you can walk around and shop. The view across the street from the hotel is awesome. Great place to stay all in all. "

"Stovepipe Wells is a remote area of Death Valley, so you need to set expectations accordingly. That said, the basic rooms were comfortable and functional for touring the park. The restaurant and bar on site are excellent and a stand out for a remote park location -- and several echelons higher in quality, service and value than the mediocre Xanterra facilities at Furnace Creek 30 minutes away. The eggs at breakfast were REAL eggs, not plastic, powdered crap. The steaks at dinner were tasty and cooked to order. Save your money, avoid the Ranch and the Inn at Death Valley and stay here instead. Very convenient to Sand Dunes and Mosaic Canyon, 30 minutes from Furnace Creek. "

"Charming 2 bedroom manufactured home close to shopping and restaurants. Very clean with equipped kitchen. Super quiet with an excellent view of Lone Pine Peak and Mt Whitney. The beds were quite comfortable along with the rest of the house for a restful getaway."
