The Hotel Provincial is beautiful- if you actually stay in the hotel pictured. We were placed in building 5, which is definitely haunted and definitely infested with cockroaches. It has some interesting history, but it feels the hotel might use that as an excuse not to appoint the area as nicely. Our room was acceptable when we arrived. Impressive headboard, but otherwise a bit lackluster. The Provincial seems to be milking covid "regulations" for all they're worth. Cited covid as the reason we only received fresh towels twice and turn down service once during our SEVEN day stay (both at our eventual request). Reusing a damp towel in the New Orleans humidity is unpleasant to say the least, and for the price, I certainly shouldn't have to ask for fresh every day. We saw a cockroach in the lower entry of building five on the second day of our stay, but dismissed it because though it was inside it wasn't on the same floor as guest rooms and we figured it may have just flown in. We were wrong. By the sixth day, we'd spotted many more inside the building on the guest floors. I finally went down and told staff that I'd just seen several roaches and they cringed a bit, offered to come up and "take care of it" and then shrugged it off. Im sorry, but killing one roach doesn’t actually do much. When I returned that night, two cockroaches weron the threshold of my room doorway. So disappointed. This was our 10 yr anniversary trip and I was duped into a roach infested nightmare
hotel.
