"Right from the second we walked through the front door, we were met my smiling and helpful staff. All amenities were carefully pointed out to us 5/5 for reception staff.
Unfortunately the room itself was a disappointment, whilst it was immaculately clean, there is no way I could describe it as a "deluxe room". I would describe it as a basic room. As it was our wedding anniversary I thought that upgrading to a deluxe would be a little bit special, big letdown. The bar area was again immaculately clean and the staff again friendly and helpful 5/5 to bar staff.
Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, cereal, croissants, fruit, hot food (sausage, bacon, eggs - both fried and scrambled, potato scones, black pudding, fried tomato, beans and mushrooms. Toast is available, as is tea and coffee. Again 5/5 for the staff. The lounge areas are lovely with plenty of space both inside and outside.
Swimming pool and sauna areas were great. We really enjoyed our stay despite the disappointment in the room.
On the downside, the hotel is in need of a bit of TLC. Carpets on 1st floor down to reception need replaced, they are threadbare in numerous places. Wallpaper beginning to peel off and almost every ceiling we came across needs painted or replaced. The driveway leading up to the front door needs repaired, potholes all the way from initial entrance onto driveway, all the way to front door.These things are obviously outside of the staffs purview. Menu prices are a bit on the steep side."
