"This property was beautiful. The house, backyard and patio are all amazing. The sunset views can’t be beat. There are some good restaurants and coffee shops nearby, we got take out from Gyppos because we wanted to spend the most time we could at this place and also it’s only 4 minutes away, the food was good, friendly staff and live music outside while we waited. The black sands beach was a few minutes away, we drove down and parked by the peninsula you can see from the backyard and walked down. We could have stayed there all day! We also visited the tide pools near the lighthouse and there were so many seals very close to the beach on the rocks. We had breakfast at the Black Sands Bistro and would highly recommend them, great food, beautiful views, friendly staff and awesome desserts. The whole Shelter cove area was beautiful. It’s so worth the slow curvy drive in that can sometimes make you question where you’re going."

"The Scotia Lodge was a charming and fun place to stay. It's an older hotel that dates back several decades, but you can tell that a lot of work has been put into updating and maintaining the building, the rooms and the grounds. The location is great too: only a short drive to the Avenue of the Giants and Humboldt State Park in one direction, and Fortuna in the other with Eureka only a short drive further. The staff were very helpful to us, too, in helping store my mountain bike overnight so that I could rest easy, knowing it was secure. Staff were unfailingly friendly."

"This place was amazing for our 2 families (4 adults, 4 kids) Super close to some awesome trails and just a short drive to the Humboldt marathon which worked so well. The hot tub was a great spot to relax in after our race! I would highly recommend staying here. It had everything we needed!"

"Spectacular views!! This place was clean, cozy, communicate was easy and the location was perfect! It also had everything we needed! We could have used a few extra blankets but I was planning on bringing my own from home but forgot. Would stay here again!"
