Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
My room was called a double but I can’t imagine two people fitting into it. It was a matter of design as much as a matter of size. There was no place to put luggage. There was no place other than the bed to sit. And the duvet was too small — unless only one person was in the bed and at the very center, there were gaps on one side or the other. The owners and the people who design these sorts of places should be made to spend several nights in them before signing off on a project. As to noise, I knew there was construction next door didn’t bother me. The interior soundproofing was not good, however: other guests going back and forth in the hall or talking in their rooms bothered me late at night. Other than those problems, I found the place quite good. Checking in and out was easy. There’s a lift. The staff were pleasant. Housekeeping did a good job and the place was quite clean. I had a view out over the large private garden/parklet in front of the hotel. I greatly enjoyed that view (and the window was tall and actually opened) with the lovely tall trees in and near the green space. The hotel is quite near two underground stations, so the Circle, District, and Central lines are all easily accessible. The little M&S grocery store between the hotel and the subway stops is well stocked and convenient and there’s another, larger grocery store nearby. Queensway has a number of takeaway and small restaurants. Nearby Kensington Garden is beautiful and serene.
