![Hamilton Pool Preserve is a historic swimming hole located 3/4 mile upstream from its confluence with the Pedernales River, which is right outside of Austin. Hamilton Creek spills out over limestone outcroppings to create a 50 foot waterfall as it plunges into the head of a steep box canyon. The waterfall never completely dries up, but in dry times it does slow to a trickle. However, the pool's water level stays pretty constant, even during periods of drought. No pets of any kind are allowed. Only a limited number of people are allowed to enter so arrive early, people wait outside and as people leave, others are allowed in. There are no lifeguards on duty so swim at your own risk. There are areas that get pretty deep.

« The cottage was lovely and just the right size for my husband and I. Our dog enjoyed it also! We were minutes away from the Wimberly Winery and about 10 minutes from downtown Wimberly. The only issue we experienced was a slow moving shower drain. Someone from the property came out and resolved it that same day. I gave 4 stars for cleanliness because the floors in kitchen and bathroom weren't free of hair and dust. One more tip: perhaps you can change the hinges on the refrigerator, so that...
