My only regret is that we came in late September and couldn’t take advantage of the lovely outdoor pool. Our room was very comfortable and clean. "Overall the Phillips was a fun getaway. The architecture and decor is really cool! We paid extra and upgraded our room to a deluxe king so we could have a little sitting area and received a room without that. We talked to management and they said not all deluxe rooms have that. If we knew we weren’t going to get that, there would have been no reason to upgrade. There’s no mini fridge in the room. We thought the place needed some attention. The tiles on the shower floor were coming off, there was a spot on the bathroom wall that had been repaired but never sanded and repainted. The toilet bowl looked dirty. The paint was chipping off the sink drain. Many of the chairs throughout the premises had spots where the wood and leather were wearing away. The ice water in the lobby was always empty and it was a really hot day. Nothing earth shattering, but could use attention. The speakeasy was really cool but we didn’t stay because it was so loud in there we couldn’t hear each other. Definitely make reservations if you plan to go. We didn’t try any of the restaurants. Location was great- within walking distance to the free street car so we took that everywhere. 10 min walk to the Kauffman Center. 4 min walk to the 10th & Wyandotte parking garage that was $15 to park overnight. Staff was pleasant. Room was clean other than what I mentioned above. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Overall it was a good experience."
