"We enjoyed our stay and due to the weather extended it an extra night with no problems. There is no front desk service -- all communication with our hosts was done through text messaging, but they were quick to respond, and our room was made up daily. The room was lovely and very comfortable. No breakfast or food on site, but there are good dining options a short walk into town. Great location for exploring the waterfront and downtown Rockport!"

"Having arrived an hour early, I checked in with the staff at the front desk and was so grateful they allowed me to park the car there although I was early. Everything about this hotel is as I had hoped. I’ve traveled to Salem for many years usually annually. The Hawthorne Hotel had caught my eye many years ago, and I finally remembered to book a room there. I’m with my two young teenage granddaughters and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beds and linens and room were very comfortable. The bathroom is small but very usable. There isn’t a closet, but we were only there for a day so that wasn’t a problem. Every staff member was so helpful in congenial. I will stay there again!"

"The staff were beyond accommodating as we checked in a bit early from traveling all week. The front desk on Sunday at 11am was so friendly & helpful. The lady in the restaurant was running the entire place Sunday & she was amazing & the food was delicious."

"Great attentive staff, I cannot stress this enough, from the airport shuttle drivers to the front desk and bar staff. However good the employees, the facilities are outdated and deplorable, it smells of cleaning agents both in and out of the rooms. The worst part, getting up at 3am to catch an early flight only to discover there’s no hot water to shower, this is a basic necessity not really negotiable. It is unfortunate that very little investment goes to upgrading the facilities, let’s hope they pay their employees well since no investment goes into the structure. Probably the worst facilities I’ve witnessed in the USA and I travel a great deal globally and across the Country, I’m embarrassed to even write this honestly. Just because it’s an airport hotel doesn’t mean it has to be worn down like an old pair of shoes, looks great in pictures but the reality stinks."

The Cove At Salem

"We enjoyed our stay at the cove very much. The unit was about as big as my home studio apartment. 2 queen beds in a separate bedroom and another queen fold out in the living area. The bathroom was also spacious and well lit. The kitchenette was great but would be even better if a small microwave was added. The community microwave in the “play room” was better than nothing but a wee bit of a distance for us. The ice machine worked once in the 5 days we stayed. Bought bags of ice at the liquor store a short walk away. We really appreciated the combo for the storage closet so we could grab extra towels, cups and coffee. We’d rather not bother the office folk so it worked out well for us. The office peeps were friendly and helpful and it made our stay all the more pleasant. It was a busy few days at The Cove while we were there. Once a couple of ladies tried to get into our room before they realized they had the wrong room. Two other nights (one at 3am) someone banged on our door then left. We assume it was another case of mistaken room. We enjoyed the outside area with fire pits, bbq grills, a giant jenga game and comfy swinging chairs as well as standard tables and chairs. The upstairs game room was fun, too! Our 9 year old boy enjoyed playing foosball with a Dad as well as the snacks in the vending machine but it really needed refilling. We liked the microwave popcorn but less than 1/2 actually popped. That happens at home, too. Parking was plentiful. Good location."
