This area is characterised by its lush, mountainous landscape and offers direct access to the forest's main attractions. You'll find a selection of accommodations located amongst the greenery, providing a tranquil base relatively close to nature trails and waterfalls. The PR-186 itself is a scenic route, winding through the foothills of El Yunque.

For nature enthusiasts and those seeking an active holiday, staying near the forest entrance is ideal. You'll be able to easily access hiking trails like La Mina Falls or Yokahú Tower, allowing for early starts before the crowds arrive. Many properties here also offer stunning views of the rainforest canopy.

Couples looking for a peaceful and romantic escape will appreciate the secluded feel of properties tucked away in this area. It's superb for enjoying the natural beauty, perhaps with a private balcony overlooking the rainforest or a dip in a natural swimming hole.

The best time to visit El Verde, Puerto Rico, is during the dry season, which typically runs from December to April.

During these months, you'll experience pleasant temperatures, generally ranging from 24°C to 29°C, with less humidity and a lower chance of rain. This makes it ideal for enjoying the stunning beaches and outdoor activities without interruption. You'll find the conditions great for relaxing by the ocean, exploring the nearby rainforest, or simply strolling around.

Travellers looking for a balance of good weather and fewer crowds might consider the shoulder months of May and November. While there's a slightly higher chance of rain, it's often in short, tropical bursts that quickly pass, and you can still enjoy plenty of sunshine.
