The Dupont Circle Hotel

1500 New Hampshire Ave Nw, Washington - Map
"Nice "Modern" Hotel"
The Dupont Circle Metro Stop was a very short walk through the center of Dupont Circle. The hotel room bed was comfortable and the heated floors in the bathroom were great! Both the toilet paper roll location and the shower half wall were very impractical. The partial-open shower plan doesn't mix with smooth tile. The water inevitably gets everywhere making the tile floor into an ice skating rink even with a shower mat towel on the floor. The sink is so shallow that every time you turn the water on, the water splashes out onto you and the floor. There is no chance in blocking the light through the windows due to the wooden shutters. Good luck sleeping through the night as well. The constant honking, sirens, and loud people were a nuisance. (Not necessarily the hotel's fault, this is the middle of the city.) The do not disturb button in the room on the wall was a nice touch. No more messing with the paper do not disturb sign that blocks the key slot. The restaurant prices were surprisingly affordable though there are plenty of other eating/drinking options within walking distance. I enjoyed the stay at this very much "modern" hotel though the modern aspect seemed to get in the way of implementing some more practical options.

Pocket Guide: Washington Dupont Circle The Doyle Collection Hotels

Mid-rises and mansions grace the leafy streets of Dupont Circle, where independent cafes and shops thrive. With a number of gay bars and businesses, this area is DC’s main gay neighborhood. Foreign flags fly high on Embassy Row, the stretch of Massachusetts Avenue from the Circle to the National Zoo and National Cathedral. At night, locals head north to Adams Morgan for drinks and live music.
