"The property is large and about 50 minutes from the airport in the middle of nowhere. The food options are great!! Reservations are not required for the restaurants but you have to get there at least 15 minutes before they open if you want to get a table. The selection of food at the buffet and the different restaurant are excellent. The people and service are are also excellent. The only con to this property is the beach. It is not very clean and we witnessed one of the souvenir vendors deal...

"Very beautiful place. Highly recommended. Staff is very helpful and nice. Restaurants are good too. Theres an event planner on site every day through their vendors, and local businesses offer plenty other things out on the beach right outside. Only critiques would be no hot water in showers and rooms are not weatherproof so they remain humid no matter the temperature. WiFi in rooms is basically non existent (but out in common areas it’s fine, and you don’t go to Costa Rica for WiFi)."

"I had a nice stay at occidental however I feel the resort should update the lighting on the resort. At nite it’s pretty dark. And they need to have make sure your rooms are stocked with wash clothes. I went several days begging for wash clothes. I had to use the hand towels to bathe. And thank god one of my friends from the trip gave me one because she had multiple. And they also need to have options to eat after 10pm. "

"We had a very relaxing and fun vacation. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The food was fine and we thought was quite good. Overall we felt we made a fine choice picking this place. The staff member helping with the beach activities (i.e. kayaking, paddle boarding, etc.) was very cheerful and helpful and make the experiences quite enjoyable. One small note is that the description of the check in process on the Expedia site was not entirely correct. The site lists that check-in ends...
