Nice hotel near downtown Dallas

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: I like the location of the hotel. It is close to many attractions in downtown Dallas. Though it is near downtown Dallas, it is quiet and safe.
Cons: The hotel is obviously in the process of upgrading, but some of the facilities are dated. I would like an option for a complimentary breakfast.
Location: Gexa Energy Pavilion, Downtown Dallas, Restaurants, Nightlife.
My family stayed here when we attended the Five Seconds of Summer concert at the Gexa Energy Pavilion. The location was very close to the venue, and it was easy to get to and from the event.

Don't do it!!!

Posted 13-Sep-2016
The hotel is in major need of an upgrade The hotel lobby is ok but it gets worse as you get further into the hotel - the pool and surrounds are dirty the pool steps are slimey and the gym is one of the worst I've seen. The breakfast downstairs is not worth it and unless you want to 'throw money away' do not pay any additional a for club access unless you plan on drinking $100 of canned sodas. The hotel smells old and musty - the room was tidy but did not feel clean the air con noise makes it feel like you are in an airplane. Andre at the front desk was the best thing about this hotel and if a better hotel is looking for a great employee I would recommend hiring him but then this hotel will have absolutely no redeeming qualities.

This is a LAST resort hotel

Posted 8-Sep-2016
Firstly the check in experience was rushed and impersonal the lady obviously wanted to end her shift - the hallways smell old and musty like wet dirty laundry - the elevator gives you a 2 second window to get in before it closes on you - the rooms are outdated and the carpet smells and is covered in stains - the pool is also dirty and I didn't see anyone clean it while we were there in fact the same hair ball was there the three days we stayed - now for what you pay for - we ordered the club room for the 24 hour snacks, the breakfast and the appetisers we paid the upgraded price for this at 8.45am there was NO breakfast - no juice no bowls no cereal absolutely nothing as well as no one up there - at 10pm there was no milk for the coffee at 11 pm still no milk at 1 am nothing and the night manager said for better words too bad too sad - until we expressed our annoyance and he finally got us a couple of small milk cartons from the kitchen Day two - still no breakfast still no snacks and still no appetisers - day three we checked out and went across the road to the Hilton - I am waiting on a response from Expedia for two reasons one - they charged us $90 a night more then booking.com which is not great considering they have a price guarantee second the service we paid for was not what was received so Expedia.co.nz which thankfully are bound by the commerce commission will give us a full refund for the nights we didn't stay and for the extra paid for a service not received

Decent

Posted 6-Sep-2016
Pros: Cleanliness, Distance to everything
Cons: Customer Service
I had previously stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago so I decided to book again. The two men at the desk when I checked in were a delight. I stayed from Friday thru Sunday and the housekeeping was wonderful. They made sure we had enough towels, etc. My only disappointment/dissatisfaction was that I forgot a hat in the room. This was a limited edition hat and I had already left back home before realizing I had forgotten it. I called the hotel and asked if they could send it to me and they asked me for my card info so they could send it (didn't even offer to send it for free as a courtesy to me). They asked how soon I needed it and I said "I'm in no hurry to receive it" meaning: bill me for the cheapest delivery. Well I received it 2 days after my trip with a $24 charge from FedEx! NEVER going to stay here again. Thanks a lot Ellen (I believe that was the front desk clerks name).

Now I remember why I only stay at Hilton Hotels

Posted 30-Aug-2016
Pros: Penny the bartender was really cool- and fun to chat with while we were waiting to check into our room at 5:00pm.
Cons: Check in time- actual.... The room smell- not so pungent.. Black mold removed.
Location: Stemmons Fwy. is in the middle of downtown- plenty to do. We attended a concert on this particular weekend.
Check in was to be at 3:00. We arrived after a long day at 5:00 and our room was 'not ready' yet. A nice gesture was made and we were given a complimentary drink from the bar. Our room was 'ready' about 30 minutes later... we did have an enjoyable time talking with bartender- Penny? :) Then we went to our room. There was a pungent smell that hit as soon as we walked in. I'm still not sure what it was? It was not VINEGAR, but it was about as displeasing as vinegar. I opened the sliding door in hopes of 'airing it out'. We had to get ready and leave soon after arrival at this point. No time to switch rooms- if there WERE any ready.. Inside the closet and around the A/C there was black mold. Yes. On the wall up by the ceiling. Had the AC on, but no telling what it was blowing out on my while I slept. I realized that this was a SHERATON hotel.. Generally, I have made efforts to stay at HILTON hotels, and because of location, and a good deal advertised, we gave it a try. Guess we need to stick with Hilton. The looked like it was opened with a crow-bar at one point as well. Door was ruined by the lock.

room was very smelly

Posted 29-Aug-2016
Pros: nothing. it was old and the hall ways smelled very bad
Cons: change all the carpet and remodel
The smell in the room was foul- like if pets had been living there for a month and they had just pour cheap perfume to mask the odor. I checked in a 2 am and was exhausted so I just went to sleep. the next day I reported the issue and waited for hrs. finally went back to the desk and finally was moved to a different room.
