From sky-skimming Andean peaks and high-altitude cities to flat, desert-like salt flats, Bolivia is nothing if not varied. Discover colonial architecture, learn about the traditions of the indigenous people and marvel at the incredible natural vistas.
Delve into the history of Bolivia and discover which traditions stem from the pre-Columbian period and which originate from the era of Spanish colonial rule. While Spanish is still the language of government and business, listen carefully and you’ll hear other languages, such as Quechua and Aymara, being spoken on the streets.
Visit La Paz, one of Bolivia’s largest cities and commercial centers. La Paz sits at a substantial altitude, so go slow when you first arrive to allow yourself time to acclimate. Admire views of the towering Mount Illimani from the Mi Teleférico cable car and browse the stalls at Mercado de Hechiceria where vendors sell all kinds of herbal remedies.
Southeast of La Paz is Sucre, the nation’s capital and site of Bolivian independence. The entire city is a UNESCO-listed site, known for its colonial architecture and wealth of museums. Learn about Bolivia’s quest for independence at the Casa de la Libertad, a museum and memorial located on the site where the declaration of independence was signed.
Don’t miss the Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flats, in southwest Bolivia. The white ground here glitters in the sun and when the ground is wet, the flats reflect the sky’s blue light.
The festivals and warm weather make May through October a popular time to visit Bolivia. If you’re looking for good deals, consider going in November before the advent of the rainy season.
Fly into the international airports in La Paz or Santa Cruz and use buses or taxis to reach the city centers. Only use taxis that are identifiable with a company name and phone number. Domestic air travel is becoming more common and is the most reliable during the rainy summer months. No matter when you visit, Bolivia promises striking natural beauty and a rich cultural history.

Staff was great and very friendly. Room was cleat, neat, and had everything. Loved the stay, and I would definitely come back
Nice hotel but food and drinks in the restaurant are really overpriced. The hotel is not near anywhere that you can get food or drink, hotel restaurant is the only option you have. Staff should be friendlier.
