"The service here is so good and thoughtful, I cannot emphasize how impressed we were. The staff helped us store our baggage before check in and figure out how to get the baggage to the train station. We were provided a variety of complimentary gifts, and a map of the surrounding area. The room was spacious and clean, and the private baths were a wonderful experience. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to others traveling in this area."

"I can’t say enough good things about this place. It was relaxing and staff were friendly and welcoming. When I departed on April 9, I realized that I had forgotten my watch at the hotel. Upon calling the hotel, the front desk gentleman drove his motorbike to quickly return it to me at the station. "What Hotel Moda lacks in aesthetic charm found in traditional Japanese ryokan, it more than makes up for in modern amenities, comfort, and level of service. The private onsen is clean and spacious and my wife and I really liked their curation of toiletries and accessories - I was particularly taken by the pajamas the hotel prepared. The staff was incredibly considerate and even generously provided free transportation to/from the town center (a cab from Yufuin station would otherwise cost about ¥1,000). I would definitely stay at Hotel Moda again!"

"breakfast and dinner were both good. It was worthy to stayin in this hotel for those elements. However the condition of private bath tub was terrible. The wooden door was off the window frame, and the hinoki tub was moldy in several places. The experience of wood powder getting stuck in my fingernails was really not a pleasant experience."
