Lake Chatuge Lodge

A Mountain Paradise on Collett Creek in Andrews, NC

10/10 Excellent

"We live on Lake O' the Pines in East Texas and we wanted to stay somewhere on a river or creek and we found the perfect spot to spend a week of peeping the leaves in North Carolina and Tennessee. This cabin in in a beautiful location right on Collett Creek and the hot tub and fire pit added to our evenings and made the visit perfect! We were two couples and the two bedrooms and two baths were just great for our needs and privacy! Melinda was a great host and responded quickly to our questions. Oh, the Walmart in Murphy delivered right to the door!"

Nantahala Village

8/10 Good

"The place was beautiful and in a beautiful location on the side of a mountain. There were nice views all around as well as multiple outdoor seating areas. Our room had a nice view of the mountains. The room was mostly clean. There was a sticky substance in the bathroom floor as well as a used coffee cup behind the toilet and a blue stain in the bathtub due to a leak that had obviously been going on for a while. We gathered that the cleaning person was not the most reliable employee based on comments that we overheard. The place was very quiet. Most of the amenities were not available due to staff shortages and being closed for the season. There was good internet service and a tv with a decent amount of channels. Sausage biscuits and coffee were provided for breakfast, but they were not out by the scheduled time both mornings that we were there. There is no staff on site after 5 pm so if a problem were to arise not sure how well it would be handled. Requests for extra towels, toilet paper etc. had to be placed by noon, so be sure to check your supplies early in the day😊. My biggest complaint was the booking had one price and we were charged something more. It seemed like the place was struggling, so we didn’t complain to the desk clerk. It was a nice place overall, and cheaper than other places that weren’t as nice nor had the views we had."

Best Western Of Murphy

8/10 Good

"Hey, it’s the Best Western and you get what you pay for…. The staff were friendly & helped with providing a fan & air freshener which our room needed on the first night. The room was clean-just seemed to have been closed up for a bit. Parking is free and we were able to park close to the stairs to make access to the 2nd floor a little easier. Free breakfast-well, again, you get what you pay for. It’s low quality coffee, edible eggs & sausage or cereals. Our room did not get service the 3 nights we stayed midweek. Fresh towels were made available upon request. I would stay there again if I needed a place to stay, but the Bee-dub might not be my 1st choice."
