“Great location”

The Double Tree at Hotel Circle is located near many of the major attractions. The staff was friendly the rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Old Town is nearby and the location near the hiway makes this hotel very convenient. I would stay there again as I have stayed there in the past. I am a frequent visitor to Southern California and have stayed at over 20 hotels in San Diego. Based on the value, convenience, and location I would stay again.

Area recommendations

Point Loma lighthouse, and La Jolla California. Scenic views at La Jolla and the ability to see navy ships going in and out of the port from the Point Loma Lighthouse park. We saw a frigate and navy submarine while at the park. This is a great location to see the city of San Diego.

“A bit pricy, all others good”

“Best hotel we've stayed at in San Diego”

We stayed in a family suite and it was very comfortable. The location is convenient to all the local attractions. The hotel staff was more than accommodating at 2:00AM when our child threw up and needed new bedding! We have stayed at 2 other hotels with children in San Diego and this was the best one we've stayed at.

“Very Nice Hotel”

Area recommendations

Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are nice beach areas. Mission Valley is great for shopping.

“Great hotel in San Diego”

The hotel was clean, staff friendly, warm cookies on arrival and the location was central to everything. I would stay there again.

Area recommendations

I would stay in Hotel Circle or the Mission Valley area. Close to everything.

Getting around

Rent a car for a couple days to get to the outlet malls and Wild Safari Park.

Must see

Seaworld & Old Town.

Shopping

Veijas Outlet Mall.

Dining

Make sure to dine in Old Town. Great Mexican restaurants.

“reasonable rates, clean place to sleep, don't expect amenities”

Our breakfast was not included - the breakfast buffet cost $13.95 each, so we ate somewhere else; some very loud partiers next room over at 4AM - called desk and it was resolved quickly. This is a good place if you are going to be out all day and simply need a clean place to sleep. Good prices.

“4 Fun”

The hotel was 4-4.5 for what we paid for. The only thing is the door in bathroom had a large chunk out of the top of the door but did not affect its function and some minor paint/stain that can fixed. The maids did not always replace all cups and pick up the things.

“Great Location”

I would recommend this hotel. Just a couple of things, had to have the coffee pot replaced and the refrigerator needed repair, but the hotel took care of both right away. The cookies were a nice touch and delicious!

“Awesome Choice! Would Recommend to anyone!”

We enjoyed the look & feel of the hotel. Everyday our rooms were made & restocked with towels. The hotel staff was SUPER nice & ready to help out with any request. I absolutely loved the warm, delicious chocolate chip cookies the hotel provided. The room had a great, updated look to it. The pillows were super soft and fresh. I like down comfortable they used which were great to snuggle in. The refridge was also a great perk because we didnt think we would use it, but to know it was there, we eventually used it to store drinks & desserts! The hot tub & pool were also great to jump into after a long day of sight-seeing. Only down side was the a/c, it seemed to be fine when we went to bed, but then became hot during the night and in the morning hours. So maybe it was just our room, but overall, We will definitely go back.

Getting around

Everything seemed to be within 5-10 min of each other. We were there 5 days & didnt even use a full tank of gas. We traveled all over & went out to eat mulitple times everyday and even got lost a few times. The freeways were a bit different than what Texas has with all the turn arounds, twists & curves, but we were never to far off when we did miss our exit or turn.

Dining

Everyone must try Extraordinary desserts. A friend of mine heard it was on the Food Network. It was so delicious. Every dessert that we bought had an awesome taste, a little pricey, but worth it, to say you tried it. Im a chocolate lover but my friends were not, so there was something for everybody.

Outdoors or beach

We didnt realize it but we ended up in La Jolla (cove area). It had a very nice park area for all to enjoy on a sunny day. We were able to walk along the beach & even the edge of the cliff area to watch the sea lions. There was alot of food places & shopping to do within walking distance. It seemed to be a one stop shop for everything. This would definitely be a great place to spend the day & check out local spots. We also went whale watching on a boat that left a harbor that was close to the zoo area. It was a 3 hr boat trip & we saw about 3-5 gray whales. Even though we didnt see that many, the ride was just nice to get away & enjoy the water.
