“Good value”
Staff where very nice Complimentary breakfast was better than usual for this type of hotel. Guest laundry was convenient
“Don't waste your money. Two thumbs Down”
Our room had a big hole in the wall in the living room and the shower curtain rod was falling out of the wall and looked like it was going to fall down any second. We had two rooms at this hotel. We spoke to the front desk two hours before our check in to make sure our rooms were going to be next to each other and they assured us they would be. When we checked in one room was on the first floor and the other was on the fourth. As far away from each other as possible. One person said they were set next to each other but someone had moved one of our rooms. When we asked to speak to a manager they said she was on break and they would have her contact us. Two hours later I went back to the front desk and they told me the manager was not going to be able to help us and she had left for the day. Never got to speak to the manager. Finally I contacted another manager (an hour later) and said we could have a smaller room for the same price on the same floor but on the other side of the hotel. Not Cool. This manager also told me there was never a note in the computer to have our rooms next to each other (Someone is lying). Ruined the birthday weekend. I will never stay here again and would strongly recommend against staying in this hotel.
“Very nice”
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a long day at Sea World so it was nice they had microwaveable meals there that you can get. The first morning we had a wonderful breakfast. The pool and hot tub were very nice for the kids.
“Great hotel, very friendly staff, will check out other Homewood Suites in future”
Great hotel, very friendly staff, will check out other Homewood Suites in future. The rooms are nice, spacious, clean and stocked with the necesary amenities. Free breakfast everyday and free dinner on weeknights, nothing exceptional but filling and made it an easy start to the day. It was very quiet, pool area was small but relaxing outdoor environment. We stayed 3 nights, two adults and one child and we were all happy that we chose this location. We will stay here again on our next visit to San Diego.
“Excellent value, free breakfast and free dinner M-Th, can't beat that”
We got an Expedia special rate which was considerably less than the Hilton rate. We had a studio, which is the smallest room they have (our choice) but it was totally adequate, about the size of a normal hotel room with sofa and desk. It also had a full kitchen with regular refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher and small table and chairs. I would say it is perfect for anyone that is away from home for any period of time. Breakfast is buffet, but hot food and fixings. They do serve a buffet dinner M-Th which is also adequate. All-in-all, a good value.
“Not bad, but...”
We had stayed at the Homewood Suites in Raleigh N.C. and it was so enjoyable we decided to book with this Homewood when we visited San Diego. We stayed a week. This place is OK, but the food and the room were both significantly better in Raleigh. The food for breakfast and dinner is a big selling point for us. Not that this Homewood is bad, but the pool is very small and in the shade much of the day and the location is pretty far north of San Diego, so it really isn’t convenient to much of anything. Del Mar Beach is nice and not too far away but it is not easy finding a place to park if you go to the beach there. One night we tried to get a pizza at 9:00 on a Wednesday night and wound up driving around for forty minutes, winding up in La Jolla to find a place that was open. The closest pizzeria was listed as being about a mile away – but we were told by a gas station attendant across from the darkened establishment that it closes at 3 in the afternoon? The coffee shop at the hotel next door closes at 2:30 in the afternoon. Nearly anyplace you want to go you will need a car and nine times out of ten you will have to drive on the freeway to get there. The traffic isn’t as bad as LA, but it is heavy and has a tendency to bog down in the morning and late afternoon – like around most cities. So being sixteen miles from town is somewhat of a hassle. The neighborhood this hotel is located in is nice. I would recommend this hotel, but with some reservations.
“Excellent stay -- can't wait to go back!”
My husband and I always seek cleanliness, quiet and hotel staff who are professional & courteous. This hotel delivers on all of the above. Lovely rooms, very comfortable beds, great morning breakfast buffet, and the frontdesk staff were helpful in every way. Our only "minor" issue was that we were on the 2nd floor and we could hear people on the 3rd floor walking heavily late at night....so next time we will ask to be on the top floor (but this is because we are both light sleepers). Overall, 5-star hotel experience and we look forward to going back.
“Comfortable and relaxing stay”
We are a 50-something couple and thoroughly enjoyed the Homewood Suites in Del Mar. It was comfortable, albeit a little worn in the furniture department, and convenient to restaurants, shopping, sightseeing and especially the beach. The hotel's breakfast was hot and fresh and families seemed to really enjoy the amenities. Since each room has a living room and full kitchen, it would be ideal for families with small children or people with special dietary needs. The front desk and housekeeping staff are friendly and great at their jobs.
“Lots of apologies”
This is a hotel that could be a good one, but unfortunately there are a lot of "I'm sorries" and not much action. The people at the desk are very nice but the action is sadly lacking. They obviously don't have enough people attending to keeping the hotel clean and there is no response to polite requests. It's an odd feeling to receive very polite, kind replies to questions and no action to back them up. I've never been in a hotel that doesn't have a room cleaned by 2 in the afternoon even when they know you have left the premises and have requested the room to be made up. This happened three days in a row. I've never seen no response to seeing a young child serving himself at the morning buffet by licking his hands and then scraping off the serving spoon with them and then repeating. I would think they might have taken that batch of food off the line right away when it was pointed out. It was my last visit to the morning buffet.
“Excellent place to stay”
Booked 1BD suite. Very nice and convenient. Breakfast was good with hot and cold options.
