Lake Sarnen Scuba Diving Vacations

Beautiful elegant hotel in great location for touring, as well as many cafes, restaurants, transportation, tourist sites etc. I was on the 4th floor and loved the view and the balcony. Breakfast wasn't cheap, but nothing is cheap in Zurich, and if you have a wooden leg, just fill up at the delicious breakfast and skip the rest of your meals. I would have like some coffee set up in the room, I got by with an ice bucket and ice otherwise. Not cheap, but well worth the price.

Our stay at Hotel Astoria was a pleasant experience. The rooms were quiet except when the staff was cleaning the rooms above ours's. The breakfast was good with a variety of fruits, cereals, breads, as well as the standard heated trays of eggs, bacon, etc. About the only complaint is with the bathroom. It is not senior friendly with an extremely slippery tub surface and nothing to support oneself. Maybe a child could use the tub but it was difficult for an adult sized person to get in or out. The lighting could also be improved.

I had one of the more basic rooms at this hotel, so the room was compact with a single bed. For Switzerland, it was good value but if you have mobility issues, a bigger room would be advisable as in this one, you must step over the toilet to get into the shower cubicle. Very strange! I had a peaceful sleep, there was plenty of parking and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you are on a budget, then this is a good choice. Oh, and as others have said, the views are absolutely stunning from the breakfast room / garden.
