North Pender Island Pet-friendly Vacations

Location is second to none. Staff were excellent. Food was spectacular. Parts of the property are on the shabby side. Wooden railings require replacement as do some of the wooden decks. The entrance door to the lobby requires paint. The white vinyl office chair in our room was splitting. These of course are minor, its just not what I expect of a 4 star property. Overall our room was great however it was located below the restaurant. The noise while the was far from relaxing. I would not stay in one of these rooms again. To be fair, I booked one night last minute and the rate was quite low. I will stay again.

This is a very lovely place. The village is stunning. I booked thinking it was UKEE cause Expedia suggested it was… it isn’t… however it was worth going to.. beware though… you need to take a water taxi to get there and its 10$ a person.. so we were out 80$ just to get back and forth from our car to the resort…

Not what I was expecting for the price. We were celebrating a special occasion and they gave us stale dessert, with a nice card. The hotel, rooms, and grounds are beautiful, but I don’t think the price is worth the value. Also, parking was $40 for one night and they didn’t tell us how much it would be until check-out.

Property was clean and convenient and the restaurant was wonderful so in those respects our stay was fine, The issue is with the billing. We fully paid ahead of time and when we arrived we paid the incidentals for the room, but this hotel continued to charge us daily. For every day we stayed they pre authorized the room rate again and in doing so they maxed out my credit card limit with their pre authorizations which again happened nightly. Very confusing to me and extremely annoying. I asked for them to release the extra almost $4k they pre authorized on my cc but as of yet they have not. We stayed in other hotels in BC and this didn’t happen, it only happened with Magnolia. For this reason I cannot recommend them and I won’t be staying with them again,

It was an older property

This is an old hotel that is in the throws of a renovation program. Checking requires that you park your car about half a block from the hotel and then drag your luggage across paving stones to the hotel entrance. There is no concierge service or restaurant at the hotel. We had a standard room which had new bathroom fixtures, carpeting and kitchenette, but no clothes closet or safe. And the air conditioning consisted of a noisy portable unit with the outlet duct taped to a panel in one of the windows. The hotel is clustered between several pubs, restaurants and shopping, which is both good and bad. It's great to step out and find an excellent breakfast place (Murchies) next door, along with several pubs and restaurants. It's not so great at 2:00 in the morning when one is trying to sleep with all the partiers carrying on below at street level. Staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be, but didn't have much authority to make things right. In summary, it could be an okay place to stay, depending on one's expectations. But at $400/night, it is way overpriced for what they offer.
