Egypt Mountain Vacations

There are people outside the hotel ready to pounce on the tourists. Luxor is extremely impoverished and you are basically trapped in the hotel. There is nothing to do outside of it and you will be harassed every time you leave the premises. The walls are not soundproofed and there was construction next door at the new botel being built so you hear a lot of disturbances.

I had an overall very enjoyable stay at this hotel. What really stood out was the staff – everyone puts in a lot of effort and is consistently friendly and welcoming. There were a few misunderstandings during check-in at the beginning, but the team did everything they could to make up for it, which I really appreciated. The food was also a big plus. The buffet offers a huge variety, and you can tell they make an effort to bring in a bit of variation every day. We stayed in a swim-up room, which was definitely a highlight. Having direct access to a small private pool right in front of the room was amazing. The beach is also great – perfect for swimming and even snorkeling. They really take care about the garden its absolutely beautiful! The only downside was the situation with the sunbeds. If you go to the beach around 11 a.m., it can be quite difficult to find a spot. Many guests reserve their sunbeds early in the morning, and overall there don’t seem to be enough loungers and umbrellas. That said, the price-performance ratio is absolutely fair. It’s not the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in, but for what you pay and what you get, it’s definitely good value for money.

Our stay at the Steigenberger Nile Palace was exceptional! From the beautiful property, fantastic pool, and breathtaking Nile views to the phenomenal staff, everything exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was a 10/10, our welcome drink and room service dinner were wonderful, and our sunset dinner overlooking the Nile was unforgettable. The staff went above and beyond, even helping us retrieve my husband’s phone after a difficult tour experience. Their kindness and hospitality made all the difference. We felt genuinely cared for and would absolutely stay again!

We recently stayed at the Sheraton Soma Bay. Unfortunately our experience was mixed, and mostly disappointing. The highlight was the cleaning staff, who were excellent. Our room was always spotless, and the housekeeping team was friendly and attentive. They deserve real credit. The amenities were okay but not what we expected. Some of the restaurants were closed during our stay, and so was the water park, which was a big disappointment also because the reception staff told us that it was open. Our main problem was reception and the concierge. We asked several times for them to book our airport transfer, and we paid for it, yet it was never arranged. That caused a lot of stress at the end of our trip. More generally, the reception staff came across as ineffective. They seemed to know very little about the restaurants and activities in Soma Bay, so we found the area hard to navigate and couldn’t make the most of our short time there. Food and drink were also below par. The choice was limited, and the pool bar staff didn’t know how to make a caipirinha. We were surprised that the à la carte menu had no Egyptian or Lebanese dishes, since local and regional cuisine is one of the things we were most looking forward to. With better-trained front-desk staff and a more varied food and drink offering, this hotel could be very good. Right now it falls short of what you’d expect from a Sheraton.

Site très propre et bien entretenu. Chambres sont grandes et propres. Personnel accueillant et poli, mais c'est en Égypte, alors faut s'adapter au concept égyptien du temps. (Pas celui "nord américain", mais cela oblige de ralentir.) Le resto fruits de mer est excellent, mais il a un coût supplémentaire du forfait tout inclu. Le buffet est très varié pour le petit déjeuner, déjeuner/dîner. Le site est à de nombreux escaliers à monter/descendre entre le niveau de la mer et celui du lobby, alors exige une bonne mobilité.
