Brighton and Hove Luxury Vacations

We had such a lovely stay at Drakes hotel. We stayed on the top floor with the balcony and had the most incredible view of the sea. It was very relaxing waking up to this. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Really close to the pier and the lanes. We will definitely be back

The hotel room was stunning and the bed was very comfortable. My only is every time we called down to reception it always took several attempts to get hold of someone.

Even though our room wasn't ready 40 mins prior to check in our room wasn't cleaned to the standard you would expect, especially for a 4 star hotel. The headboard was dusty, the light fittings were dusty. There was mould in the shower cubicle. The floors were stained. The toilet was grim with discoloured porcelain at the bottom and under the rim. There was no toilet brush in the bathroom. The shower cubicle flooded which must be down to an uncleaned filter. The bathrobes were ridiculously small. Poorly designed room, the TV is not opposite the bed, there is a lovely long mirror inside the room by the door but no lighting near it. The bathroom mirror didn't demist. Overall the reception staff were average, on checking out we wasn't even asked if we'd had a nice stay. The bar staff were lovely but understaffed, whilst in the bar waiting yo check in some people were waiting 20 minutes for their drinks. For the price we paid, we could have stayed in The Grand which I'm sure would have been much better. On a good note, there is a fabulous Italian restaurant behind the hotel which is independent. Lovely to go to somewhere that isn't a chain restaurant.
