(54 reviews) If you're not a person who likes big resorts and looks for something a little more low key, The Hideaway is it. Beautiful, well-kept grounds. The room was fresh and clean. The pool and pavilion are in the middle of the cottages, and the beach is literally right outside the gate. My first day there, I had the entire beach to myself (beach is very nice and clean). There is no traditional check-in or front desk and not many employees, so there's kind of just a "honor system" vibe. I did meet one of the managers, who was very sweet and talked to me for several minutes about living on the island. The staff at "The Shack" next door were extremely professional and polite (I'll review The Shack separately). This sounds like such an advert that I will add one negative thing; over the cottage I stayed in, there must have been some sort of fruit or nut tree, and the fruits/nuts often fell throughout the night. Each time one fell, it almost sounded like a brick hit the roof. (434 reviews) Staff were wonderful. We had a car and the valet service was a part of the stay, very pleasant valet staff. Loved swimming in at the beach in front of the hotel. One mile walking loop around property. Poolside service was awesome, again very friendly. Free cookies and drink samples came out a couple times. Loved having a balcony. Nespresso coffee makers in room and they provided coffee pods. Food was expensive, but that is st Thomas. We did a lot of exploring and honestly, we should have just spent all our time at the resort with maybe one or two planned excursions. Not sure if it was worth renting a car for. Coming from winter in Pennsylvania, the 80-degree temperatures were amazing and much appreciated. I booked our stay through Expedia as a package deal, and the checkout time was listed as 11:00 a.m. However, the resort’s actual checkout policy is 10:00 a.m., and they charge $75 per hour for any time stayed past checkout. This was contrary to what was posted on Expedia and was not clearly communicated. Upon arrival, the front desk staff seemed very short in their interactions. I didn’t take it personally and assumed it was due to being busy. Our room, however, was clean and a great size for a couple. The pool was decent and not crowded with children, which was a plus for us. The bartenders were kind, engaging, and very attentive—definitely a highlight of our stay. There are cats walking around the property, which didn’t bother us at all (I’m a cat lover). Transportation via taxi can be quite expensive, and some drivers seem to make up their own prices, making it feel like a very lucrative business in the area. Pueblo Supermarket nearby is convenient, but if you’re looking for cheaper liquor, the gas station next to the market had prices about $20 less than the resort or the supermarket. Be aware, though, that food overall is expensive. At checkout, the reception staff were unfortunately very rude, with noticeable attitude and a lack of hospitality.
