Camp John Hay Cheap Vacations

The place was very comfortable and we were given a lot of amenities for washing clothes and also everything you need in the kitchen. There were also plenty of spare towels and bedding. Everything you need to keep the place clean is available. I can't say enough about how clean it was. Overall extremely satisfied. And to be allowed a later check out free of charge was a blessing and I am very grateful for that.

The reason for the overall poor, some may think is minor but for me major. After paying for a two night stay in a deluxe king room, I was told I could not wear my Sketchers nice clean design sandals into the hidden bar area in the basement. It was suppose to be the highlight of my stay. I mean cmon it is summer time I had on very nice under armor dress shorts and a Hawaiian polo shirt and my dress sandals. I was immediately to by the door girl I would have been able to have a great time in the bar area had I dressed properly. Immediate discouragement and sadness about this. I had not seen any dress code posting on expedia when I booked the room. When I go on vacation in the Philippines I usually do not even pack any type of shoe just the most common foot wear worn in the Philippines (flipflops) I do not wear the cheap ones I wear stylish name brand ones I truly looked the part of a well dressed tourist from the USA. To top it off they allowed me to take a peak inside and it was so nice and EMPTY except for the bartender, this added insult like who was I going to dissatisfy the staff? Such a bummer to receive this treatment from what otherwise was a decent place to stay. I rarely complain about anything but not being able to unwind at the bar at the early hour of 5PM was offensive to a well paying customer.

Check-in staff needs to be more friendly. She looks annoyed when we got there and giving us attitude. Everything else was excellent.

The cleaners were very responsive. They gave us all we requested in 2 minutes. Breakfast was good. I will recommend the property.

Overall the experience was good primarily due to the helpful staff. I did have issue with the wifi in the first room I was assigned. Staff moved me to another room with a better connection. The gym AC was not working well so getting a good workout in was next to impossible.
