The Mercer is beautiful and in a great location between old Montreal and Downtown. A few items that could have improved our stay include more hand, face and kitchen towels. We only had one face cloth for 4 people and 4 bathtowels. We also had no bedding for our pull out sofa but we managed to track down bedding in the central cabinets on the floors. Overall, our stay was wonderful and staff at the front were very kind.

As far as appearance goes, this hotel is exquisite. It's pure luxury. Where things go wrong is with the amenities- they are shockingly bad for a high end hotel. The restaurant is closed every morning from 10:30-11:30, while that sounds reasonable when you are visiting from the Westcoast and you need to sleep until 10 because of the time difference that closure is a pain in the butt. To make matters worse the room service menu often only had 2-4 items toral so we weren't able to order room service most of the time. When I called the front desk to express my frustration they told me to just order Door Dash and they would bring it up. What they they didn't tell me was that there was a $15 charge for that. So basically they don't offer proper room service and then charge you for bringing up food for delivery. Additionally, the walls are paper thin. We could hear every conversation in the hallways. We could hear the baby in the room next door crying and every morning at 19am we could hear housekeeping talking loudly in the hallway. This isn't the place to go if you want to rest and relax. I would say that this is hotel for business travelers. It's too bad because the look of it is romantic, it just doesn't feel cozy and romantic.

The staff was amazing.

Don't expect any communication with the staff. The front desk wasn't staffed during any of the five days we stayed at any time. Messages via the Expedia app were ignored. Daily room service is not available. The hotel does not have a coffee shop/cafe, dry cleaning/laundry services, Concierge services nor a restaurant as advertised. Website says the checkin time is 3PM; however a same day email note says 4PM. The washer and dryer were both broken and unusable. The shower faucet handle fell off multiple times. The bathroom fan was broken. The location in the neighborhood was excellent.
